RE: HA HA BUSH WINS OWNED!

I don't entirely disagree, but that's the long term (relatively) -- I thought our friend was considering the more immediate future. BTW, I think Daschle's middle name was "Obstructionist". I was happy to see the dweeb hit the private sector.

On a side note, it seems to me that both parties had found a great deal of middle ground during the Clinton years. Now the GOP has moved far right to once again make itself distinct. I still think it's largely because of Clinton's (shall we say) personal life.

RE: HA HA BUSH WINS OWNED!

Clinton finessed the Repos at every moment. He took their agenda and made it his own. When the formerly Republican agenda got passed, Clinton got the credit. That is smart politics and the benefit of it still accrues much more to Democrats than to Repos. Just witness the comments concerning the economy back then, we call it the "Clinton boom". Same with welfare reform and military reform.

IMO, Clinton deserves a lot of credit for being very bold politically while recognizing that he was nearly impotent against a Congress that didn't much care for him, on either side of the aisle. The guy just rope-a-doped and kicked the Congressional ass. It still burns the buns of Repos everywhere.

I think a smart Demo could do that again. Instead of being congressional Kaopectate, they should immediately propose some bold plans for SSI reform, tax reform, terrorism, etc. Put down the early marker on each of these initiatives that Bush is going to address. When the press mentions it, remind them that the Demos were there first. Also, do a Reagan on them and have a spokesman who is (are) bright, articulate, friendly, smooth, and attractive. Not wrinkled sourpusses from inside the beltway.

here are my two nominees:

Jennifer Granholm
Barak Obama

I've got to agree. The dems will lose again if Hilary runs. She fits the dem stereotype too well, and since the word "liberal" is being used like the word "nigger" was 50 years ago, she isn't going to stand a chance. All hope lies in Barak Obama. However, if McCain runs in 08, I don't think Obama will stand a chance.

I saw two of the Bush/Kerry TV-debates, and I think Kerry's biggest mistake was, that he talked about what was wrong with Bush's policy instead of talking about what HE himself wanted to do...

From your mouth to God's ear. Unfortunately, I fear that the GOP conservatives presently holding the reins will shun McCain as too single-minded and progressive.

-I think what Kerry learned in the senate is to expose the weakness of argument from one's opponent. This is great debate technique, but it fails miserably in a key component of the executive: Leadership.

Anybody can bitch and whine and complain and make constructive criticism, point to real flaws, etc. Heck, my teenager does it with great precision. But a leader does more than complain and Kerry, for all his expressive ability, never demonstrated the key component of leadership--audacity. He never dared to step-out on his own and present a new vision of something greater than himself.

For all Bush's many faults, the man is demostrably audacious. Kerry never showed any boldness, daring, or wisdom. Its difficult to faithfully follow a careful clerk who married well, into the unknown future.

RE: HA HA BUSH WINS OWNED!

Shane,

That 51% is historical the last president to win with over 50% was very long ago Roosevelt I think.

The other side needs to start showing “genuine bipartisanship and stop the attacks.

The only reason he needs to reach across the isle is to slap the Kerry & Kennedy crew.

RE: HA HA BUSH WINS OWNED!

"who married well"... come on now - that was low![:)]

Well, I think you're right about the difference between leadership and debate technique - but I still think, that Bush is giving America a bad reputation in the rest of the world... too bad Kerry wasn't the man who was able to turn it around!
