RE: Fear wins. The world loses.
I'm disappointed in the US election outcome. As a European, I find it rather odd that there is so much pent up agression if not hatred in some of the remarks above, in particular directed to foreigners. What gives? Like it or not, little of the rest of the western world is happy at the outcome of the US election, and while the attitude of f*** 'em, can be adopted, it is neither wise, pragmatically, nor laudable. The US's role in the world is likely to diminish in the coming decades, and a growing split with Europe et al will be in no-ones interest. The US is also pretty extreme-right-wing now (but I guess that seems normal to you), and for many of us on this side of the pond, some manifestions of this are close to incomprehensible, such as the role of the flat-earth evangelicals in advocating war, and the hitherto fiscally responsible republicans mortgaging most citizens future to donate tax breaks to the uber-wealthy. Is there any chance of a reasoned debate here, rather than adolescent mud-slinging?
