RE: do you like to breathe ?

As I've said in a previous thread, we don't comprehend how great our environment is compared to the rest of the world. I have seen the rampant disregard for the environment in Eastern Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, with my own eyes. It would turn your stomach.

I, for one, am grateful for what we have.

Those that complain about how bad it is here, need to travel aboard.

RE: do you like to breathe ?

so you guys justify dirty air and water by saying it's worse somewhere else so it's ok? nice... believe me i've seen way worse but that doesn't mean that i want that in my back yard. i see environmnetal destruction everywhere around here. corn field/woods --> final vinal. [xx(] that's just for starters...

also, so, the western euro environments are too good for you?

RE: do you like to breathe ?

Better now then 40, 30, 20, and ten years ago.

Look, the rate of improvement will asymptotically approach a limit. In other words, it is not possible for the rate of improvement to be consant. It was really easy to have big improvements early-on. But after each improvement occurs, there is less improvement possible so a continuous rate of improvement is more difficult. Got it? So any real, though minor improvement over these recent years will probably have cost as much as significant improvements cost in 1970.

Is the cause a Repo or Demo problem? Ans: Neither. If we spend our efforts blaming each other we will waste energy on the wrong problem. Try putting your effort into promoting improvement rather than sharpshooting the opposition.

So what have you done to help? Besides the obvious of who you're going to vote for... Are you on any action committee? Are you involved or have started any environmental thinking at where you work? Do you ride-share or take the bus? Do you only mow your lawn in the early morning or late evening? Do you only fill up your car after dark? Etc, etc, etc.

It's easy to point fingers - If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

And to answer your next question - yes.

RE: do you like to breathe ?

I like a clean environment. I wish all states are as strict as California.

As the rest of the world is concern, I wish the UN would force a minimum environmental regulations. The UN should not let undevelop countries be exempts for environmental regulations like in the Kyoto Accord.
