RE: If Kerry wins

LOL - I feel like "riff-raff" every time I post something in polical discussion[:D].

Something else (thread hijack) from a riff-raff point of view - if voting is like this in the US just imagine how screwed up it is going to be in the "new" democratic Iraq[:0]

RE: If Kerry wins

who you callin' riff-raff willus? Despite all of the wrangling that goes on here, I'm actually heartened to see the interest. I think that increased participation in government is ultimately a good thing, even though it might raise the hair on one's neck once in a while...

dj - are you insinuating that we could be seeing the emergence of the thought provoking idea that maybe the south trying to "split off" again. Wouldn't that be something if the south was separate from the north. I guess as long as there were not alot of oil reserves we'd be fine[;)].

RE: If Kerry wins

I think it unlikely that the union will split any time soon. The main reason? Average joe no longer has a gun, so the 'call to arms' would be rather unproductive. Plus, the type of war waged today rather prices out the local militia...

I've often thought that it would be much more interesting if the US was a couple different countries. There are certainly enough regional differences! But, nobody here likes to be the #37 world power. Can't be the Republic of Kansas and be #1...

RE: If Kerry wins

I agree. There will be no organized armed actions by secesh guerilla groups here, its just not possible given the high police and military presence in the US. We are separated by culture, not section anyway, and that would be the basis. It would be like one big Northern Ireland. Civil War here would be waged the same as it is everywhere else - terrorism, but the home grown kind. Two whack jobs who slept in their car terrorized the entire mid-Atlantic region using a cheezy rifle. McViegh saw himself as the first in a long line of truck bombers that would rise up after him. A mass breakout of that kind of stuff, coming from both sides, is what a modern civil war would look like here.

Can anyone even imagine what kind of turmoil real middle-eastern style car bombs and assasinations would cause here ? Most other countries have frequent police checkpoints, travel document requirments and national ID systems, primarily to control those types of threats. Imagine this country will have to as well. Glad I got to enjoy a free America while it lasted.

If Kerry wins, nothing is going to happen. He'll just keep flipping, so it will cancel anything he does out. He'll make a bill to protect the enviornment, and then another one to destroy it. But that's far better than sending this nation to hell.

What do you use as a base for that Rainbow stew? I've never been able to get mine just right...
