Not only that, they only discuss the fetus and never the mother, which is where the real issue lies. What gives the state the right to force a women to bear a child, and then tell her that her destiny is to raise the child she didn't want for the next 18 years ?
I don't agree. Other than rape, etc., the woman willingly knew the consequences of her actions. If she says "I didn't think/know I would get pregnant", that is total bunk in today's information society.
If she chooses to have sex, she knows that she may become pregnant - so she should accept the responsibility. You have to look at the root of the situation.
I am not pro-life. I just get sick of people doing things like abortion so they don't have to accept responsibility of their own actions.
On the flip side - the pro-life people, whom I respect, have a major flaw that is difficult to swallow. They rant and rave about how everyone should have their baby and then if nothing else, give it up for adoption. My complaint is that most of the pro-life people yelling at the girls going into the clinic have not and probably will never lift a finger to help those poor girls. I have never heard of one of them offering to take that girl in to help until the baby is born. I've never heard one of them offering to adopt one of those babies. When the rubber hits the road, their words are loud but their actions are totally lacking.
Just irks me! If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
I'll get off my soapbox for now...
