RE: War has cost 100,000 Iraqi lives: Lancet study
kvining, you seem to latch onto words rather than grasp the underlying message. Let me clarify:
1. Under my "kid" comment, picture a 17, 18, or 19 year old Iraqui (or other Arab male). Strap explosives on him, and tell him that he'll avenge the killing(s) of all his ancestors by exploding himself in the middle of the infidels. That is my point. It happens every day in Israel and in Iraq.
2. As far as the President being wrong: you fail to recognize the intelligence reports presented by the (historically wrong) CIA hierarchy. Granted, the President was more likely to believe the reports than someone else, but the reports were clear: Saddam Husein (a proven, Hitler-like figure, who is universally known as a brutal a$$hole) has the capability to produce WMDs. Hey, the honorable Senator from Massachusetts sided with the President and voted to give him power to wage war.
3. "Bush blew it". I wonder: what actual evidence do YOU PERSONALLY have that he did so. Was it (as I suspect) the evening news reports? Wouldn't it be nice to have 20/20 vision BEFORE something bad happens? No ills in the world. "...simply does not have the ability to lead a huge, modern nation." Who in the heck are you to make that statement? Whether you like it or not, he was voted in office...Al Gore tried (mighty hard) to prevent that from happening, causing numerous re-counts, but face it: GW Bush is our president. Respect the office and the institution of the presidency...
4. If you don't like the way things are, do something that millions of Iraqui people (and many, many more around the globe) couldn't do until this year: go to your polling place and VOTE!!!! If your candidate wins, so be it. If he doesn't, admit defeat, and shut up!
