Feeling Pollish

The map at www.electoral-vote.com gets weirder by the day. Kerry is back in the lead. Bad news for Kerry: Michigan, which should be a walk for him, is now dead even. Bad news for Bush: Ohio, the most dependable of all Republican states, is now slightly in the Kerry camp. Ominious for Bush: a general inabilty to break the 50% mark. Since undecideds are currently 2:1 leaning to Kerry at this point, he has to depend on Nader to save him in order to win. But things are not working out there, in fact there are now reports of the Libertarian candidate pulling 3% in Arizona, while Nader has disappeared, so Bush may be the one who "gets nadered". A discussion on the Libertarian surge is here:

http://www.electoral-vote.com

Another ominous sign for the election as a whole, an indepth study of the people who most commonly respond to polls is showing they are for the most part lonely people stuck at home with nothing much better to do. Caller ID, cell phones, and a busy world may have screwed all these polls. Just another thing saying the election is unpredictable - SO GO VOTE!

I've asked this before, but no one answered. Are Libertarians broadly represented on ballots across the country, or is it just a local thing?

RE: Feeling Pollish

They are in Texas - thanks to Ron Paul they have a pretty good organization here. I voted today, and in Texas there are always a lot of races with a Repub and no Dem - it was refreshing to see a lot of these races now had Repubs and Libs, so I voted for all the Libs.

...I'm thinking about authoring a citizen's initiative that'll demand for all pollsters to be summarily burned at the stake. I happen to know my state's top pollster, so maybe I'll offer him a moist towelette to ease his suffering...

not really broadly here but more. and more independents this time around. but the one that's contesting my us rep runs every election against anybody and everybody and has no chance against her. white guy whith whacky ideas representing mainly poor black folk. now that's funny.. lol

Perhaps you can get it put into the Book of Leviticus.

RE: Feeling Pollish

I got polled by Zogby today. I thought, "WTF, should I answer pragmatically or should I answer from idealism?"

I answered idealistically. So I'm either skewing the vote by about 0.01% to Libertarian or I'm reflecting actually conflicted voters who can't raise enthusiasm for Bush but think Kerry is a walking danger to society. Be interesting to see how the poll comes out.

How long does it take Zogby from when they contact you to when they post results from that date's polling?
