Anybody is a nut to interpret the Bible word for word, believing Noah lived so many years, the planet is only 6,000 years old, whatever. The Bible was not MEANT to be taken word for word. It is a philosopical work constructed with the purpose to base our moralities on. And to provide insight for our futures after our tissue becomes grazed on by squirmy maggots.

Obviously "executing homosexuals" is quite ludicrous, but the meat of the Bible does not support that. For those that are closed minded to the scriptures, don't try to comment on something you don't know.

Am I a Deist, now? No...I am simply saying that a years and days are different times. God created the earth in six days? Yeah, ppppphhhhtthhh! Those six days were millions of years. Did God wave his mighty hand and thus, magic created our solar system? No. What is known and accepted is that someone had to have had the power to create our universe. Only nothing comes from nothing. And nothing else matters.

Believe what you want.

Although, "God helps those who help themselves" and "Everyday I put myself at one with the universal spirit" is pretty much my philosophy, courtesy of Franklin.

A quandry of scientific materialists? Peter D'holback folowers, eh?
First of this statement:

"What is known and accepted is that someone had to have had the power to create our universe."
Hardly. Science and religion having been arguing this point since the Renaissance. I think the idea is preposterous.

On the "meat" of the Bible concerning gays:
Leviticus 20:13

Leviticus 18:22:
"You shall not lie with a male as those who lie with a female; it is an abomination."

Leviticus 20:13:
"If a man lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination and they shall both surely be put to death."

This one often used to cite AIDS as Gods judgement on gays:
Romans 1:26-27:
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions: for their women exchanged the natural use for that which is against nature. And in the same way also the men abandoned the natural use of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error."

I Corinthians 6:9:
"The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. So do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminates, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the realm of God."

I Timothy 1:9-10 (condensed):
"Law is not made for a righteous person but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and fornicators and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching."

Looks like "meat" to me.

Actually quantum theory predicts, and linear accelerators demonstrate that matter and energy are interchangeable. Matter and energy do, in fact, come from "nothing". It is still not known if there is a conscious hand behind the fabric of the universe. I don't think it matters much anyway.
