Bad day of driving for this guy in Germany!

I received this email tonight. Can anyone identify the year and make of the car?

"Now YOU will know what the term, 'wrapping a car around a tree' means.......

Advantages of driving in Germany:

1) Overall, the cars are in much better condition because of tough inspections

2) Licenses are much harder to get, with better driving training

3) The autobahn speed limit is "whatever's safe" up to 155 mph

Disadvantages of driving in Germany:

1) When you fly off the road @ 120+ mph, you find out why Oak was used as armor on ships"

Current:
1995 E-320, 163*** miles
1987 190-E 16-valve, 150*** miles

Former:
1980 300-D, approx. 225*** miles, donated to the National Kidney Foundation.
1980 240-D, 297500 miles, totalled when hit by innatentive driver. Missed dearly.

It looks like you can actually see the air bag wrapped around the tree on the inside of the car!

I think it's too small to be a Volvo, but who knows.

I'd look at the interior of the door and the placement of the gas cap as clues. Maybe even the wheels too, though they may be aftermarket.

I agree, it looks like either a 5 series or a 3 series to me.

Is that a car? Or a red sloth hugging the tree?

It's a mid 90's Ford (Euro) Escort, no doubt about it. I can tell because of the tail lights and the shape of the door.

DAMN!!
