bot, did you read the translations?

they sure are talking about hunting americans in arab lands, (specifically places we were stirring up) not here stateside... threat? not really. it wasn't some grand scheme to get US....come on now... hell, i am sure if you raded the russkies you'd find even worse...and that's just naming one....

inflationary tacticks here... just like making a big deal out of an old rusty rocket body...
Ahhh, sweet reason. Your interpretation is certainly one credible reading of the documents.

So is a more malevolent interpretation.

The difference between the interpretations depends an awful lot on how one views a perceived threat and how one responds to it than it does on the literal interpretation.

Well, there's interpretation and then there's conjecture. Which do you suppose Don Quixote would favor?

Only an idiot would conclude that Pat Robertson's CNS "news" service is more accurate than the CIA.

RE: Documents indicate Iraqi threat

Actually, it is not name calling it is a truthful observation. CNS, who is famous for breaking the "Kerry intern" story, will go as far as ruining peoples lives in their quest to spread disinformation and lies. They are so notorious for false stories and forged doucuments, that only an idiot would believe what they push. Sorry, but that is the truth. It is also indicative of how far back the True Believers have been pushed, the last twenty or so people in this country who still believe the Saddam regime was a threat to the US, that they now have to resort to pushing obvious crap in an attempt to support their utterly untenable position. It does us all a disservice to present information from such a discredited source as something worthy of discussion. Do you actually think a story of that magnitude would NOT be picked up by the mainstream press? Only an idiot would believe it. In addition, this is the second time they have pulled this. Early in the war, when questions began to be asked as to why there was no documents discovered in occupied Iraqi government offices pertaining to WMDs, a CNS News "reporter" suddenly claimed to have found some in a bombed-out building he just happened to be walking through. Eventually the Pentagon determined they were forgeries, of course only after months of Sean Hannity and Limbaugh citing the discovery as "proof" of WMDs. Thats how disinformation works. CNS has been caught so many times, they simply are no longer believable. Only an idiot would believe them.

It could be putting words in somebody else's mouth--especially if incorrectly inferred. That would probably be the worst-case interpretation.

But we are asked to use our judgement every day when presented with evidence for all manner of conjectures. A beer cap in your son's car, a crack pipe in your employee's desk drawer, a casual but perhaps lingering glance from an attractive woman. How we judge these various forms of evidence depends almost entirely on what we have learned from previous experiences.

So the way we assemble the various evidentiary facts to create a satisfactory model of the world in which the facts fit best is highly subjective. This is probably the origin of the majority of our various disparate conclusions concerning the Saddam threat. Gievn all the various lines of evidence, much of it highly ambiguous, could hardly lead us all to the same conclusions. Does that mean one or more of us are idiots or stupid? I don't think so. I think reasonable people can disagree without inferring cognitive disfunction.
