You have no idea how close to reality your comments are - no bull$hit, our government came periously close to hitting farmers with a fart tax on their cows!!. New Zealand has signed the Kyoto protocol on carbon emissions - the US has not. As to rights of sheep, I say Baaa Humbug [8D].

After seeing the inhuman pictures of your AbuBAA Garib Prison, I believe all US residents on this forum would agree an invasion is in order so we can bring you folks democracy. In fact, we have more evidence of your perfidy than we did in Iraq. Could we please have the GPSAT coordinates of house, and the times you are usually at home? You might want to suggest a vacation to your neighbors. We do try to limit "colateral damage".

My neigbours are Australian....

..I suggest a truce, as they have a REAL pretend military, whereas my country does not, and additionally, their woolly headed girlfriend population is far more extensive than can be mustered locally.
My family feels safe in the knowledge that whichever presidential candidate you elect to office - none of us give a ....... care (being polite now to prevent nuclear armageddon to my faithful local flock), and down this way it will make no difference at all.
Peace, love, and lamb chops,

... select quotes out of context - remark on them - and feel yourself clever (barf).
Hardly. As all your original posts are either on the same page or a mere click away for anyone to see, it is impossible for me to take you out of context. As far as clever goes, wrong again. Until you said you were a working bloke, I honestly thought I was reading the rants of a teenager. Speaking of clever - love the "barf".

Quote:
Still, I appreciate your effort - it's just that you are American, and yet again, have not understood that my thread is directed at those - who like me, - are not.
As your initial post and subsequent follow-ups (prior to this) failed to make that disticntion, it is a little bit late (and lame) to claim that now.

Quote:
How's your general knowledge?
In New Zealand we are nuclear free - no bloody bombs, nor craft of any kind that carry (- how does that sit in your gullet!) yet have had our army in Iraq until their deployment ended only very recently. Our troops still serve in Afghanistan and a whole heap of other places around the world keeping freedom and peace (bet you didn't know that!)
Sorry, you would have lost that particular bet.

Quote:
Bet also that you didn't know that New Zealand was the first country in the world to emancipate women. Guess we know a little bit about freedom and human rights, and for a tiny sovereign nation (about 4 million total) do what we can to serve world peace.
To be fair, that bet you would have one. But, then again, New Zealand history has absolutely nothing to do with the points you were trying to make earlier. I also think you would be unwise to get into a tit-for-tat discussion comparing New Zealand's contributions to world freedom/democracy against those of the US.

Quote:
Your post also totally ignores my points that both India and China are becoming huge powerhouses in current world affairs, and yet I bet you have no idea of the reasons why, nor of the names of their leaders?
You may want to re-read your initial post which started this banter. Your point was not about the up and coming status of India and China. Rather, it was about the infuences the presidential elections were having on world news, which apparently had you upset to no end. China was an afterthought of that post and India wasn't mentioned at all. Had reactions been more positive to this initial post, you never would have written follow-ups attemting to say what you "really" meant. Therefore, that argument is superfluous. While they have importance on the world stage, they are not powerhouses. What they have are large populations, nukes, and markets that other countries would like to have opened to them more fully. Oh yes, Hu in China and Singh in India. Yes, that kind of news makes the papers here so us poor, ignorant Americans can read it.

Quote:
Great Britain was once great - to my mind the US is just beginning to follow the USSR on a slow decline that military might, economic reality, (lack of oil for one) politically imidealism
I will let a citizen a Great Britain handle your first statement. That is, again, of no relation to your primary posts. BTW, the USSR disolved a number of years ago, they are Russia now. When you wish to puff out your chest on world affairs, it helps if you get the simple stuff correct. Then advance to more complex issues. Anyway, with Russia, you are confusing the combination of having a first world army while simultaneously being a third world country as being great. They never were as the USSR, they just happened to have a lot of nukes.

Quote:
Thus the point of my thread that most have either ignored, or are just too ignorant of world affairs to give a stuff. Whichever contender you vote for is for most of the democratic - free - world a non event.
I'm sorry, didn't you just say the points you were trying to make were that India and China are becoming powerhouses? Please, make up your mind. As for the elections being a non-event, the fact you are complaining about how much of an event it is shows that you are simply contradicitng yourself. Again, please refer to my prior posts. If the world didn't care, as you claim, you wouldn't have anything to gripe about in the first place.

Aaw God, you again, - can't you read?...

...Your dissections are just plain boring, - guess your hobby must be fault finding for a dictionary publisher.
Most have gathered that my thread is directed at non US forum members - puts you into part of the feverish throng of chest beaters for all things red or blue or bugger you!
Other than yours, I have enjoyed the tit pulling responses - my question and comments deserved them.
Jeez man, you have to lighten up and come to regard repartee, comment, and the fact that debate can have more than two sides as reality.
If all that is too much for you, then to put it simply, what part of my thread question that has the words "outside the USA" don't you understand?
Try posting after a good day, or a 6pack fewer beers.
As for me, I've found my answer - it is obvious from a read through all the responses.
What good car have you made?

Again, another wrong assumption on your part. Were I to start dissecting your posts in that manner, my replies would be twice as long and truly boring.

Actually, you have only made that clear in subsequent posts while poorly defending your views

Agreed. Yet, you consider my posts an exemption to your own beliefs. Another one of your contradictions. You don't seem to mind the funny posts, but when challenged, you take great offense. As far as your reference to "repartee" and "debate", I'd hardly consider comments such as "ignorant precious puppy", "barf", "bugger you", "can't you read", or "6pack fewer beers" worthy of the terms.

Ahhh, perhaps the first sensible thing you've written in a while. Very well, let's start with your own words. Here's your initial post (the one that started it all) complete with heading:

- American politics - does anyone outside the USA give a sh*t!

Thanks to virtual instant global news, the whole world is being sucked in and I for one am sick to death of all the bullsh*t about whether Kerry or Bush will win .I don't give a rats arse who gets in. The whole US political situation is like another planet to my daily reality.I feel that China will soon be the driving force in the world anyway.

Your title isn't a question directed to those who aren't American. Rather, it is an emphatic statement of the core basis for your post. At which point, you then complain about the influence the Presidential election is having upon your (and presumably, the world) viewing/listening pleasure. You then end with a coment about China. Is there anything in this post to indicate you were directing it at a specific audience? No, of course not.

Now, here is your second post:

- Yup the time difference.... New Zealand to US

... I'm sleeping when your working, and vice versa - guess you know the score.
Whoever is your newly elected president - I still say - who outside the USA gives a Sh*t!. Many of you politically overwound US voters seem to think the world will stop turning if your favourite candidate doesn't succeed. I am saying BULLSH*T - and get a life. The world turning is NOT all about whether or not your US tie is red or blue. On your election night, the world news will show thousands of either Dem. or Rep. sycopants screaming with pleasure or mentally haemorraging (?spelling) depending on the result. Next day - daily reality - same for all us who live outside the Stars and Stripes world.
I AM NOT ANTI USA - I HOLD THE SAME VALUES YOU DO - and am just a normal bloke who works for a living.
My thread is just anti the hype crap over how the world is holding it's breath,- it's NOT!!!!
And as for starting my own thread on what I think - I am very grateful that our US hosted site allows me as a non US contributor the chance to view my opinion.

Again, we have the usual complaining about the influence on the world stage of the US elections. Again, nothing is specifically directed at non-American members of this forum. However, you do address American members directly. Therefore, I opted to answer.

Your third, fourth, and fifth posts were minor answers to others. For brevity, I won't print them here. However, anyone is welcome to look at them and, once again, take note that there is nothing to indicate you are only speaking to foriegn members of this forum.

Now, on your SIXTH post (also not reprinted - easy enough to look at) you note that you don't have a lot of foriegn responses to your notes. However, there is STILL nothing definitive about who you wish to consider your targeted audience.

Finally, on your seventh post, you actually state that you're only trying to reach a certain audience. Here is the excerpt:

Still, I appreciate your effort - it's just that you are American, and yet again, have not understood that my thread is directed at those - who like me, - are not.

It is here, your seventh post, where you are trying to redefine what you "really" meant. For an individual complaining about American politicians, you have certainly learned to dance around like one. Oh, judging by the paucity of responses from the foriegn members of this forum (of which there are quite of few) one might surmise that they didn't "get you" either.

Quote:
Try posting after a good day, or a 6pack fewer beers. As for me, I've found my answer - it is obvious from a read through all the responses.
This must be some of the cleverness you were referencing in a prior post. I suggest you re-read the very posts you mention and, this time, apply some comprehension.

Quote:
What good car have you made?
As noted previously, you've got me here. But, since this seems to be an important trump card for you, as you're bringing it up twice, I am more than willing to switch subjects and listen to your discourse on the powerhouse that is the New Zealand auto industry.

Hey, I can address this one. [:D]

I made my 240D. It was just a stripped shell when I got it, in a package deal with a rusty, but complete 300D. I installed a 617.952, restored the center console and interior, installed a driveline with a 2.88 rear, and run it on biodiesel. I am now finishing it off with the SVO fuel system now.

It's a good car. Cheers!

Congratulations 300D - well done....

I did a similar resurrection years ago - but mine was to a very humble Ford Escort van. It had had a fire under the hood - never forget my wife's face as friends helped push this VERY sorry thing up the drive ([:(!] !! ). but that turned out to be a great learning curve project, and a lot of fun. I share your sense of achievement.
S'cuse me now, someone else has rung my doorbell on this thread and I may not be too sociable.
(PS: I have a real soft spot for 70's Mustangs and Corvettes)
