RE: Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:
To tell you the truth, if I felt I had the luxury to vote third party this election, I have been very impressed with the views of the anti-war Libertarians, who I guess are the Liboes who don't think like Botsnst and the other Liboes who have blinded themselves into being duped into aiding the creation of a fascist state. The philosophy of fiscal restraint while being socially liberal makes more sense than anything I've read lately, and I'd consider voting for them for the same reason I used to vote for the Republicans before their party got taken over by religious and corporate fascists.
Zeitgeist might consider that the greatest act to create a more viable democracy may be in causing the Republican Party to eat itself alive over a loss this election cycle, which would drive the fiscal conservatives out of the Republican Party over to the Libertarians, making them a legitimate party, leaving a rump religous party as the final outcome of Republicanism. Then the Democrats could safely eat themselves alive to create a viable Green Party.
The only way it is ever going to happen is if first one of the major parties makes proportional democratic reforms, and it ain't going to be the Republicans. The current move in Colorado to make that state's electoral votes proportional is the beginning of that revolution. The Republican Courts will throw it out, because the winner-take-all electoral system is the basis of all right-wing power, it always has been, from the days when being conservative meant having the right to whip your slave. The Democrats, on the other hand, will be forced to support this hole-in-the-dyke democratic reform simply based on their past civil rights history. It is the only way short of Civil War, which is where we are rapidly heading, to save this country from fascism.
