RE: Who won?

Have to give props to the Bush prep team, certainly a big improvement over the "Squabble in Coral Gables", so he get's the "most improved" award.

Kerry obviously came in with a hefty dose of confidence from the last outting. Perhaps because we've heard the President's attack so many times, it's beginning to sound old and irrelevant, such as the "he didn't vote for the war appropriation", when Kerry has shown the other side of the story. Repetition is making Bush appear stuck. Kerry stayed deliberate and deft at difusing Bush's attacks. Truth be told, economics and social issues are not the current administration's strong suit.

As for both, I wish the candidates would be more responsive to the questions, rather than skewing the response to attack their opponents. Gibson tried to keep them on track, but failed.

RE: Who won?

I say a draw, with the caveat that the news (reality)will hurt the President more then Kerry in the coming days.

RE: Who won?

Depends on who you talk to. Is Chevy or Ford "better".

Bush did OK this time around and Kerry was similiar as last time. Call it a draw. Not much difference, both are mid atlantic fat asses.

RE: Who won?

Bush was much improved - he actually is better when he doesn't have a tele-prompter inserted in his ear. But Kerry savaged him on Iraq. Bush will definitly win the most improved award, but a lot of his responses seem tailored to his red meat crowd, like he thought he was just talking to Missouri voters. I don't know how they are going to play with the undecided crowd - he's already won over his red meat people. I know a few women who would like to vote for Bush because of the perceived security issue, but I bet he scared a lot of them off with his blunt pro-life talk.

RE: Who won?

The entire difference between these two was well explained during an exchange regarding the voting for and against certain bills:
-Kerry explained that bills are not as simple as supporting something or not, but that the vote also impacts the support of the implementation of the subject being voted upon.
-Bush returns with his same old simplistic blather. It's not complicated, you're either for it or against it.

I sincerely hope that the voting public is smart enough to understand that the world is not the simple place Bush would have them believe. It is incredible that Kerry has to explain that senate voting takes into consideration many subtleties rather than one soundbyte thought. Apparently that is the limit of W's faith in the voters. I hope he is wrong.

Both were stronger tonight, but W looked and sounded defensive on almost every question; avoiding some outright. Only the most un-reflective dumbass cannot come up with a couple of mistakes that he's made in the past four years. It's a standard interview question for entry level jobs. He blew it hardcore, and I hope the voters decide he is not worthy of the job.
