RE: It's gonna be a landslide
Well, if you are looking for evidence, this poll taken in New Hampshire, a "swing" state that went to Bush in 2000 and has been trending Bush all year, may be it. It shows a strong shift to Kerry after the debate, and it now looks like he will win the state:
Myself, I don't know. I saw tapes tonight of Bush in "town hall" meeting debates and ones of Kerry. Bush is going to be in his element. Kerry did not do well in this format, because he is a patrician intellectual and he looks a little elitist. The debate format also is not conducive to hard questioning - the Bush team saw to it that follow-up questions were not allowed. I will just hope for the best. Bush's worst enemey right now is the daily news - I think Chris Matthews said it best - Bush is in a hard position because there are a lot of subjects that he does not want to talk about, which is why his whole campaign has been with staged audiences. That's not going to happen tonight.
Kerry on the other hand, got advised early in his campaign to mix it up with the people, to work crowds of just plain folks, in the hopes that it would make him loose a little of his stiffness and not be caught of guard by negative attack. I think that strategy may be giving side benefits in the debates, because that is exactly what happened to Bush last week.
