RE: VP Debate opinion thread

I was disappointed I Edwards. Right out of the box his opening was a word for word replay of Kerry’s opening, and not really to the point. Cheney’s comment about never meeting Edwards until tonight was a killer. Cheney’s ability to sit there and stoically stick to a flawed story is scary, but it still makes him come off as a leader – Edwards is definitely the guy I want my kids to have as a school teacher or Boy Scout leader though.

Since you think the statement about him not meeting him was a killer, care to comment now that the statement has been exposed as false?

I haven't read any spin on it yet, but it was discredited quickly. That's good.

And I never cease to be amazed at the lies Cheney keeps telling about the "links" between Saddam and Al-Queda, and the contradictions from his mouth alone on that issue. It's like the big lie is right out in the open, and yet it has not made a difference.

Cheney definitely held his own, I find it hard to pick a winner.

Lies – discredited – whatever; most people that saw the debate got the point Cheney was making. It’s kind of like buying a used car from a lot. First George comes walking out in a cheap polyester sport coat and shows you what you’d like to think is a good deal, then Dick takes you in the back and explains the financing. You know it’s all a lie, but you drive the car home anyway.

KIRK read the instructions. I don't care about your pontificating until you put it into ONE POST ONLY. edit at will, but for crying out loud read the directions. 80 thousand posts with a response here/there dulls the point of my thread. go start your own '50 posts by kvining on what I think of the debate and everyone's opinions about the debate' thread. Mine is ONE POST ONLY.

(btw, usually we agree. but follow instructions!)[:X][:D]
I was going to delete it after your admonishment, but then I realized I would be stuck in an infinite loop of deleting it, and then notiying you I had deleted it. Of course, now that I have posted this, we are both now stuck in an infinite loop of post and admonishment. For i- 1 to infinity, your next i.

Cool! All the mercedesshop guys! Even Bot!

I give it to Cheney although his demeanor leaves something to be desired (hunched over and dour). Its amazing how comprehensive Cheney's knowledge (although biased) of issues is compared to W. Quite striking. Makes the W as puppet theories look very believable.

dah, we're all like kids breaking the only rule we're told not to break. seemed like there were ample discussion threads on topical specifics, a nice summary would have done well.

so we've now wasted almost a third of the thread on procedure. perhaps we should be congressmen?

Unfortunately, it was one of the many well delivered half truths and outright lies by Cheney. It doesn't lessen the impact at the moment when the fact that it is a lie is revealed a day later. It would have been great if Edwards had come back with a line like "Well that's because you are such a smug, self absorbed bastard who feels like it is ok to lie if there is a reasonable chance you will get away with it" and then cited the times they had met on the Senate floor. But that did not happen, instead Cheney looked like the senior male giving the junior male a slapdown.
