Jim, you're gonna make poor ole MB98 cry. You know he gets so upset when people jump on his factually accurate, intelligently written, compassionate arguments for why we should re-elect what's his name.

NBow for you 98. You don't want to get squashed stop being such a fucking asshole.

LK ONE,

I really wonder just how old you are posting such a stupid response as that.

Re-read what you just said -- it reminds me of something a 13 year-old would say.

Why do you have to be so harsh? Why make it so personal -- why take it so personal?? How, in any way, did my comments in my earlier post on this thread offend you to the point that you've got to act like that?

That kind of post is exactly what I was referring to in another thread about the crappy attitude from some of the folks on this forum toward someone that doesn't necessarily agree with you politically.

This is a political "discussion?" We personally attack others on this forum because they don't agree with you? Why??

C'mon now 98MBE320, the comment made by LK One pertained to a pretty thoughtless comment you made in what I hope was intended as fun. Lets not start a contest to see who has the thinnest skin here. This thread has a vague political discussion theme, but it is in no way serious enough to warrant someone being offended by a comment with a few dirty words. Surely you don't count your quip as your best, deepest and most sincere political contribution to the forum to date do you? If not don't pretend to be so hurt by LK One's diction. Wait until someone really deserves to be chastised for jumping on you unfairly. I am sure it won't take too long. If I am wrong about your intentions on this thread with your quip, we have a different issue on our hands, like a possible split personality.... Jim

I agree with you -- there was no call for a personal attack or foul language from anyone here. C'mon guys -- why respond that way? You may not appreciate his opinion, but he's as entitled to it as you are to yours.

RE: Went to see President Bush

Jim,

Yes, it was meant to be a fun comment – “thoughtless, how? We’re all ribbing each other these days as we get closer to the elections. I’m not sure how it could be deemed as a thoughtless comment – who really has the thin skin here?

I’m not hurt at all by LK One’s comment but I am surprised by his reaction toward a simple comment made in fun – a comment that really didn’t merit such a response from him. Also, I’m not real crazy about someone blatantly calling me a name like that. Again, it wasn’t warranted and that kind of language is unnecessary in the written or spoken word.

Also, as far as your comment, “…. Like a possible split personality …., again, why resort to making it personal? Your response was a fair one until you threw in the cheap-shot.

My whole point here is that if you guys want to a have political discussion on this forum with those who oppose your view than lets do it without any personal attacks/comments and cut out all unnecessary/offensive language and pornographic photos (I don’t really need to see that crap and it’s not necessary).

I duly note your points and I agree things got out of hand. Let's flame each other with more tact and skill.

Let's allow each other a little slack. I took your original quip to be in jest. And I responded accordingly. While I agree the use of "that kind of language" is undesireable and generally not warranted, I am also not too impressed with people playing on the internet who act so easily offended by a couple of words from the lexicon of "that kind of language." If it in fact bothers someone, a request to avoid it works a lot better than throwing a fit.

As for my description of your original quip as "thoughtless" I probably could have made a better selection. My point was your quip was not based on deep thoughts and convictions, it was an off the cuff quip in jest. Once again, I cannot believe that actually hurt.

And, finally the last comment I made was also intended to lighten things up a bit. I think you are mighty sensitive for someone wanting to join the fray. The object here is to engage each other in a discussion group where participation is entirely voluntary. I am all for respecting some basic standards to avoid intimidating anyone so they decide participating is not worth the effort. I am not offended by most off color language, although I typically avoid using it. I agree it detracts from an argument and lowers the group's self esteem. But I am not a big supporter of my standard is everyone's standard, or attempts to intimidate potential contributors by attacking them because they used a four letter word, especially in a post that was not intended to be taken seriously.

There is a time and a place for everything, and everyone's perceptions of time and places differs. Relax, enjoy the discussion and spend less time complaining about the gnats that bite you. Life is too short. Jim
