Didn't see or hear the "debate" myself, but...

My old school Republican dad (and Bush hater) called me tonight to gleefully express his profound pleasure with Kerry's performance, presidential stature, as well as Bush's weak responses and bizarre physical presence. Just anecdotal, but a cursory glance at several of the pundit's opinions seems to back up his perception.

Now, if they'd only have a 'real' debate, with a broader field of candidates...

Wasn't it a pleasure that there were no interruptions
from applause or hoots & hollering.

If we had Badnarik there, he'd tear Bush a new one.

i am pretty disenchanted about all this anyway. shouldn't they stand in front of "the people" and answer some real tough questions... the contract they had for this is just more governmental idiocy... kerry prob. won't be much better then shrub but i'd be willing to give him a shot..

I noticed a lot of his signs in the audience. Apparently he is getting some traction - I had even read an article somewhere that he may actually siphon votes of Bush ala Nader, from disguntled old school conservatives who are unhappy with the religous right and the big spending ways of the Bushites.

Yes, I agree. Let some real people/public ask questions.
But if it took a 32 page play book on this debate. How long do you think it would take to settle on that forum?

They are supposed to have one debate in that format. Bush fought it tooth and nail, and finally had to agree to it because the debate commission threatened to cancel all the debates if he didn't. As I mentioned in other posts, Bush has been avoding the public all thru the campaign. The Media aids him in this charade by not mentioning the cheering crowd behind and in front of Bush when he makes a "public" speech are all hand-picked evangelicals. I think it has worked against him. He's got a real Napoleanic complex going there, judging by tonight.

Do you think he would like my "Hitler-style invasion" line?
