There was a GT-40 kit on ebay that was built on the turbo-six corvair engine/transaxle. looked pretty hairy. I went to get a link but apparently it is gone, but if I ever come across a corvair donor I would seriously consider buying one of those kits. I believe the kit mfg was Factory Five.

There was a Porsche 917 kit with a Corvair setup:
