RE: benzforum.com disses Benzworld
I'll chime in, since it may be my thread that is in question. BTW, my thread was posted SIX days before the anti-Catholic thread was begun here, so it's not in retaliation to jentay's thread here.
If you want to see what I wrote, here it is. It was a response to listening to some co-workers bash the Church within earshot of me, who they know is a practicing Catholic.
[My post on the other forum:]
"So I'm sitting here in the control room of a television studio. I'm quietly doing some research on the web until the next newcsast at 1:00.
Around me are five guys talking about how most Catholic nuns are really frustrated lesbians who actually "get it on" behind closed doors and that most priests are cornering alter boys and taking advantage of them behind closed doors.
Most of the guys here at this network know that I'm a practicing Catholic. I keep my mouth closed during conversations like this-- though they know how I feel about it.
Fact is, most nuns are NOT lesbians who have sex with each other beind closed doors. They pray dilegently for peace in the world-- and take care of a lot of poor, homeless and uneducated people... among a million other things.
And most priests DON'T have sex with young boys. It's a very small percentage. Yes, those priests are sick individuals.
But do you non-Catholics really think that we practicing Catholics shoud remain open prey for all the insults thrown at the Church? Do you really think we should have to take it in stride all the time and keep our mouths shut? Do you think that the sex offenders in the Church haven't hurt us as well?
If you've been one to down-talk the Church in front of people you don't know or that you know are practicing Catholics, maybe think first next time. You're not so perfect yourself. And I'm sure there are sick people in your religion too-- sex offenders or sexually frustrated people are everywhere in society in every kind of organization.
Had to rant. I'm getting tired of it."
As for the name calling, I'm guilty of some of that and I'm sorry. I just read most of the the thread here last night for the first time and haven't had time to respond to any of it-- if I bother at all. But it did make me angry.
Like Rick, I'm involved in both forums, but have found the other one more to my liking. Some of you hang out here because you like this place more. I'm glad you are happy; it's apparant in the content of most of the threads, especially the one that has been mostly an attack on the Church. Lots of happiness there. But everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.
PS By the way, three days later I began another thread for anyone to post their stories where they were inspired by someone of a faith other than their own. There's good in every religion (for the most part), I don't know why people choose to see only the dark sides of things.
