RE: OUR BORDERS
Guarding our borders already costs more than most countries spend on all their defense requirements. Tightening them up the way that has been suggested would probably triple or quadruple our present defense budget, which entail a tax increase, God forbid! I crossed those borders into East Germany too. Relatively short border, yet employed more border guards and equipment, construction and so on than our entire present border control effort.
As for your treatment of people sneaking in, well,if this country allowed that kind of treatment of people for any reason, the border guards would soon be there for the same reason as they were in East Germany. They were there to forcibly keep East Germans in East Germany, not to keep others out of East Germany.
It sounds like you would be much more at home in the old East Germany, based on almost all of your posts to date. It is a shame the people there didn't consider your desire before they shrugged off the oppressive government they had and joined the rest of Europe. Today they have an even more porous border with all their neighbors than we do. Jim
