RE: Why Would Anyone Vote For Kerry
When are you guys going to look at the Vietnam War for what it was? It was no more than a waste of American lives and Vietnamese lives. We made up a "Domino Theory" and justified the war on that basis, then killed 50,000 plus Americans and God only knows how many Vietnamese, pulled out one day and left the whole mess behind and nothing bad happened. NO COMMIE BOOGEY MAN came and took us over. The Vietnamese went back to being themselves. John Kerry saved American lives, along with all the other war protesters. The war would not have ended when it did, and might still be going on today, if John Kerry and other patriotic Americans did not make it politically difficult to continue.
Quit romanticising that war. Be glad it ended when it did. John Kerry helped end it, and if you don't like his tactics, too bad. I think there a lot of kids today with fathers and uncles and Grandfathers who are grateful. I also suppose there are several hundred thousand Americans alive today who wouldn't be if that war had continued, and they don't even know it. Too bad, because they should, as many are of the age to vote now and could honor the man who contributed to the ending of the war as early as possible.
If you don't like Kerry, so be it. It is a free country. But don't make the Vietnam War out to be something it wasn't. Like Iraq, it was not for America's survival and it cost us dearly in terms of the lives our young men who died, and those who came back maimed or changed for the worse. Go ahead and hate Kerry for some reason you think he deserves your hatred. But helping end the Vietnam War just isn't a valid reason to hate Kerry. Jim
