Accoustic Guitar Question

Someone gave me an old Martin guitar and I am attempting to change the strings on it. I don't know how to remove the strings at the right side of the guitar. it seems to be fastened with these little white pegs. how do you remove the pegs? do they screw on or do i just yank them out. The guitar is old so i don't want to ruin it. Anyone out there with tips on how to do this?

Since I play no intruments and have absolutely no musical talent, new strings might not make a diffence anyway.

RE: Accoustic Guitar Question

Depends on the guitar. Just(gently) yank. If it is the "ball type" peg, you almopst certainly have to pull it.

Try this: http://guitar.about.com/library/week...ngstringsa.htm

RE: Accoustic Guitar Question

I would take the guitar to a reputable shop first and have it checked out... actually you _should_ take it in.

All you need to know about restringing here:

Where to find a reputable shop? Ask here maybe:

RE: Accoustic Guitar Question

I second that. You should take it in if you don't have experience with this. Good luck!
