RE: Suppose you thought marijuana should be legalized. What do you tell your kids?
If your kids are minors they don't yet have the tools to make informed decisions and you make decisions for them, right? So why is drug use any different?
I tell my kids that I might smoke weed someday but have to much to lose right now--them. So I'll wait until my youngest reachers her majority and then I'll be free to make a choice absent my concern for them. Its the Wm Buckly approach--I'll obey the law. If the law changes I'll probably smoke weed, why not? Either way, drugs are a recreational diversion. I don't have a mad drive to play golf, why should I treat drugs any different? I mean, I can't see me sneaking out somewhere to play golf if golf were illegal.
I've told my kids that I'll not tolerate any drug use in my house and I'll throw them out if they indulge. My house, my rules.
