RE: What do GUAGMIRE & VIETNAM have in common
I am taking heart today. Zogby is showing the race back to a dead heat. Pew takes a series of tracking polls, and they are showing the same thing. Not only is Iraq continuing to deteriorate, but the public seems to have grown tired of the Nam stuff. Meanwhile, one of the downsides of the war - contiunally blowing up of pipelines in Iraq, continues to rattle the oil and stock markets, as oil returns to near 50$ levels. Everywhere one turns one sees gross mismanagement of this country - the environment is degraded, the deficit has become frightening, the job market continues to stagger along, industry continues to flee the country, the stock market continues to be stuck in the same place it was the day Bush took office, half of Afganistan has fallen back into the hands of the Taliban, no sign that Ossama is ever going to be captured, and an endless war has been our reward for allowing the Republicans to lie us into Iraq. I just cannot see how Bush's support can hold under these circumstances, and these new polls are giving signs that the propaganda razzle dazzle of the Republican Convention and the Nam distraction-strategy gambit may now finally be wearing off.
