Scratched Cell Phone!

I just bought a motorola v600 cell phone on sunday and already today it has scratches on the screen! i cant figure it out! It is closed all the time and i havent even used it hardly. The scratches dont really look like long cuts they look like little "friction scars" (sorry dont know how to describe it better). I tried an eyeglass polisher (napkin microfiber thing) and it didnt work. I tried windex thinking it was a chemical of some sort. Can anybody think of anything else that could fix this? I am getting desperate! This phone is scratching like mad. Today I noticed even more scratches and it had not even been out of my pocket! i cant believe it scratches so easily! HELP!!

plastic polish or maybe even toothpaste as it has some "grit" to it.

RE: Scratched Cell Phone!

Jamison, I would leave it well alone for now. Unless someone can give you personal experience of what has worked for them, don't use anything on it just yet.

Is there a local jeweller/watch repairer or even optician you could ask. They might have more idea.

There is a product called Displex that removes scratches from mobile phones. Try putting it in a search engine for stockists.

Also, when the scratches are removed you can buy that transparent film that covers the screen and prevents new scratches.

http://www.ask.co.uk/ix.asp?q=displex&ac=none&xx=0&qid=61982CB7DFDB8340 8EF5DCB264DC9D53&p=0&s=4&sp=ix&fn=t&b=0&fo=2&r=10& io=1&fp=2&fr=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Emobilephoneb oxes%2Ecom%2Frepair%5Flcd%5Fdisplex%2Ehtm&adurl=

This is in Uk but you must have your own stockists over there.

RE: Scratched Cell Phone!

? I had a Nokia 8290 for like 2 years and it got scratched as hell. Otherwise it was a GREAT phone. My mom uses it to this day because she thinks its "cute" or whatever. I guess u could just put a new faceplate on it though and it looks brand new. Oh well im awaiting the arrival of this scratch remover so ill post the results.

RE: Scratched Cell Phone!

If the other stuff you got doesn;t work, you might want to try a product called "Brillianize". I first found out about this stuff years ago when it was recommended to me by the fish store guy to use for cleaning the outside of my acrylic saltwater aquarium. The interesting thing about this cleaner is it actually re-glazes the surface, and I have found that it has a tendencey to even fill in small surface abrasions like the ones you are describing. It is a really mild cleaner and in my experience, it has never negatively altered a clear acyrilic surface that I have used it on. Good luck fixing the scratches. That kind of thing would bug me to no end.
