-Resize to something decent for a post. 600-700 pixels wide is the max you want to go if you want people on a board to like you. Use a program that resamples when it resizes, so you don't get 'jaggies.' Go to Zdnet.com and download Irfanview for free if you don't have one.
-Upload the pic. Your ISP might give free hosting. If not, sign up for a Roadfly email account(http://mail.roadfly.com); you get 3 megs of web space free. Here's a walkthrough (http://members.roadfly.com/cargogal/rtut.htm) a friend made up.
Avoid free web options like Geocities and Angelfire and Webshots and Tripod. They don't like you to reference pics on other sites, and will give you a red X. Tripod has a bandwith limitation of about 2 views a fornight, on top of that.
-Reference the pic in your post.
