RE: Kerry's Speech

Merouby is facinating. When he's brought to task on a subject he completely glances over it and doesn't make a rebutal. When asked to back up one of the numbers he pulls out of his ass he puts the task on you "you count." Says things outragous and clearly false like "all of South America are dictatorships." Then he'll site a website with a clear agenda as proof. That's like me quoting Rush Limbaugh on a fact. Then when he does quote someone he'll say "and I quote..." yet not make mention of who the person is that he's quoting.

I've got a damn big tax bill to pay to help fund the liberation of Iraq. I'm finding refuting him on anything is an absolute waste of time that could be much better spent so that I can generate income to help pay for ChuckV's doctor bills.

Merouby, your a bright guy, but very miss guided. Your religous and ethnic background clearly clouds your vision. When you revert to Michael Moore talking points it completely kills your credibility. It's people on the very far left he who leave the middle with an extremely bad taste. People like you will carry much of the burden for winning GWB another 4 years.

No, I know who you are. A Hispanic who passes for an Arab...and gets harrassed from time to time. Not uncommon to see in South Florida. You already mentioned it prior, Sherlock.
You've got your Hispanic's passing as Arabs confused. That was me you jerkoff.

The imfamous "photo" that you keep posting is really funny. Especially since you make fun of someone else's understanding or world politics. In 1983 who posed a bigger threat to the US, Iraq or Iran? It served our purposes to control Iran via arming Iraq. Times change. I can't understand why that's so difficult for you to comprehend. You really have no understanding of how the world works.

RE: Kerry's Speech

To answer your question, MikeV why I feel this picture is so important:

Why is Rumsfeld shaking hands with a person he's supplying WMDs to? Does the fact Iran was the target any rational to shaking hands with a TYRANT that WE KNEW he'd be gassing people? What does that make America to be? Is that consistant with the words "Land of the Free Home of the Brave"? Is it consistant with our Dayist/Christian forefathers?

The picture illustrates America's double-standards and how ugly it is today.

Since Tim said it best...here's the quote:

Quote:
Yes it is a pretty dammning picture. The republicans don't like to admit that it was Bush Sr. (who ran all the nasty programs to arm middle eastern tyrants including Bin Laden himself) that started Iraq's chemical weapons program. One only has to look at the list of more than 80 agents the CDC provided to Iraq in the mid-eighties (and approved by the Reagan Administration) to know where they got their help from. Saddam gased his own people with help from the Republicans running the USA at the time.
Oh and by the way, if you're unfamiliar with the term 'oligarchy' (which is what exists in most of South America and some countries in the Middle East) a simple web search should clue you in. They are dictators in every way except the title.

RE: Kerry's Speech

Since some of you are having a hard time understanding....

Quote:
Oligarchy is a form of government where most political power effectively rests with a small segment of society (typically the most powerful, whether by wealth, military strength, ruthlessness, or political influence). The word oligarchy is from the Greek for "few" and "rule". Many political theorists have argued that all societies are inevitably oligarchies no matter the supposed political system.

Edit this template (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Template:Politics&action=edit)
Oligarchies are often controlled by a few powerful families whose children are raised and mentored to become inheritors of the power of the oligarchy, often at some sort of expense to those governed. In contrast to aristocracy ("government by the 'best'"), this power may not always be exercised openly, the oligarchs preferring to remain "the power behind the throne", exerting control through economic means. Unlike plutocracy, oligarchy is not always a rule by wealth, as oligarchs can simply be a privileged cadre. It has also been suggested that most communist countries fit the definition of oligarchy, in that the most ruthless segment of society comes to power by overthrowing other oligarchs.

A society may become an oligarchy by default as an outgrowth of the shifting alliances of warring tribal chieftans, although any form of government may transform into an oligarchy at some point in its evolution. The most likely mechanism for this transformation is a gradual accumulation of otherwise unchecked economic power. Oligarchies may also evolve into more classically authoritarian forms of government, sometimes as the result of one family gaining ascendancy over the others. Many of the European monarchies established during the late Middle Ages began in this way.

RE: Kerry's Speech

US foreign policy has always been to serve the United States. Although it might have seemed altruistic, our entrance into WWI and WWII was to serve our national interest. Our interests change.

As for Oligarchy, thank you for the 6th grade Social Studies lesson. Although it might be a new term to you, I'm quite familiar. By definition an argument could be made that we are an Oligarchy. Hell look at the Democratic ticket. Kerry worth a Billion Dollars, Edwards worth tens of millions. South America is primarily Federal Republics than anything much like ourselves, eg Brazil, Argentina, etc.

How can it be a NEW term for me, when I used it first dork (in retribution for calling me a jerkoff)? As for 6th grade, I used it in the FOURTH grade, when my dad brought me TIME and NEWSWEEK regularly as reading material when all the other children were still reading 'Archie' digests.

If anyone is unfamiliar with world politics, it is most defiantely you. Whilst you read about foreign republics and different forms of governement, I lived and visited them.

I went to private school with Hans Blix's son, Goran and befriended the US Ambassador's daughter in Europe. My friends were either high-ranking children from the State Dept. or the military. I was invited at the US Ambassador's residence, and served by butlers whereupon even the napkins had the seal of the United States. Educated using the top teachers and learned several languages (of which I know four) one of which is German. My father worked for the IAEA (UN) and almost as a result lived at the UN headquarters and shopped at the UN commissary, feasting on foreign foods that you will probably live-and-die and never taste. I played model ambassador (represented Germany) and used official UN library documents to represent the country's standpoint. Not bad for a 15 YEAR OLD!!

But silly me. I'm sure with your public schooling and spouting of regurgated Fox news channel, you WOULD know more about foreign politics.

MikeV & Phat_Benz:

RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!!!

Don't get sucked in like I did. He draws you in and the next thing you know - you're in a quagmire. Run away!

It's pointless, anyway. This latest BS is proof.

Run away! Now I'm sure he'll have some stupid remark to this but I don't care - I'm not getting sucked into it again.

Don't let him draw you into...

Run away!

That explains it.

It's the two Americas that John Edwards talks about. LOL.

You'll never see that your "pompous arrogance" (two of my favorite words) is not a virtue to 99% of society.

You and I come from two different worlds. I didn't grow up in the ghetto, but I did go to public school and grew up "middle-class." I only speak two languages (like GW), unlike Threasa Heinz-kerry, John Kerry, and yourself. And I've built a business from a $10,000 investment that nets me an annual salary that puts me well within the top 2% of income earners all before turning 30. I'm living the American Dream. Maybe that's why I thank my lucky stars every day for being born an American whereas you loathe it and regret not being born French, German, or Swiss.

Side note: for the recored I have travelled all over the world, Europe, Asia, South America (to visit an Oligarchy), and Austraila.

For the record, what you have done here is quite an achievement. For that you should be proud.

However, you have just proven that money does not buy knowledge. Your lack thereof is evident, i'm afraid. Besides my experiences were that of my youth, before I was 16. I didn't seek it. It landed in my lap. As a result, I accrued wisdom beyond my years.

One can be a business-guru and be very much deficiant in knowledge of world politics.

I may not have as much as you in the pure economic-sense of the word. However, i'm richer in wisdom than millions languishing in a bank account can ever do.

RE: Kerry's Speech

Last comment and then I'm taking James advice on this one.

Merouby - how come you're just Merouby from the block when it's convenient but when it's germane to a point you're Merouby the world traveler?

As a kid in Bay Ridge (Brooklyn) I didn't know a lot of world travelers. Nobody in Brooklyn had that kind of money. If they did, they moved. Brooklyn didn't become gentrified until the past 10 years or so. So when exactly were you a world traveling, private school going, four language speaking, holier than thou Brooklynite - at the age of 15? That would indicate you're in your early 20' by my math. And you lived abroad for ten years? And ate with the US Ambassador to Europe - by the way, I think we have more than one these days. It's hysterical watching you slither from one side of an issue to another depending on what's convenient at the moment. Any way the wind blows, huh Moob?
