I actually like the styling on the Boxster II better. I read that they are releasing a coupe version of the boxster soon as well.

Boxster II any day, the Carrera is just too flabbly!

I still love the 1995 911 Turbo!! the last of the great 911's..... or maybe the GT3 and 959.

The 959 was the best. Quicker than the Carrera GT, 15 years older, and with an engine half the size. Basically these cars look like the 993 series. I read a review of the Ruf 3600S Boxster, where they transplanted a Carrera engine into the lighter Boxster. Why didn't they just use the TT engine nif they were going to that kind of trouble, anyway. I think Porsche engines are some of the best out there, like the 959 makes 450 hp out of only 2.8 liters, and the Sportec SP700(a tuned GT2) gets 700 out of a 3.6.

Wasn't the 959 exrememly peaky in it's power delivery? If that car could handle like a Carrera GT, that'd definitely be on my shopping list. I heard it was very advanced for its time period. I've only see one once over here in the States.

I'm addicted to cars!

Yes, the american authorities wanted four of them for crash tests, and Porsche only made 283 of them, so they wern't going to give away 2 million bucks worth of 959's for that folly. Bill Gates has one parket in Canada that he drives down into Seattle sometimes, but otherwise there are none out here.

Oh, I'm not sure about the handling, the car is lighter than the Carrera GT, and a foot shorter. They made 30 "Sport" versions, which were stripped of all door panels, radios, a/c, you name it. A bit like the GT3RS. The other ones were called the "comfort" models, which were the ones with a conventional interior. I would bet anyone 100 bucks the Sport handled better than the Carrera GT, but as to the comfort version I really don't know.

I'm with EV12 Nerd on this one, the 959 was way WAY ahead of its time in terms of everything. Most new cars rely on too many things, old cars were about achieving targets!

I bet porsche doesn't have the faith in the Carrera GT like it did in the 959. Would they take it to the Paris-Dakkar rally?

The 959 is still better than a lot of current supercars, compare the numbers. Even more amazing, they get almost 200hp/liter, better ratio than even the Koenigsegg CC8S.
Saleen S7:7l V8, 550 hp, 3.7sec(0-60)330kmh
TVR Cerbera Speed 12:7.7l V12, 900ish hp, 3.0 sec,402kmh
Koenigsegg CC 8S:4.6l SC V8, 655 hp, 3.2 sec, 394kmh
Pagani Zonda C12S:7.3l V12, 550 hp, 3.6sec(best handling car,BTW)354 kmh
SLR:5.4l SC V8, 626 hp, 3.8 sec, 330kmh
Carrera GT:5.7l V10, 612 hp, 3.6sec, 330 kmh
Bugatti Veyron:8l Quad-T W16, 100 hp, 3.0sec, 406 kmh(not released yet, the TVR's still the fastest car)
McLaren F1:6.1L V12, 627 hp, 3.2 sec, 390 kmh
Enzo:6l V12, 650 hp, 3.3 sec, 350 kmh
