RE: Is the world a safer place???
I dunno, V12, I think your demonstration of similies of Israel & America is just pure mockery.
As much as I disagree with the current Admininstration, our enslaving/racist/imperial/indiginous-killing history, and our ever-so-wacked-out double-standard foreign policies, I do love America with all my heart and believe it is the best country in the whole world. And will gladly without hesitation fight for this country if it was truly threatened.
I find fault however, when i see people who think America as always doing the 'right thing' and thus infalliable. The same people who will always fall into the government line. People with closed minds, with little sociopolitical education. Yet their hearts are in the right place.
A lot of our allies, find us Americans an easy target for ridicule. Anything that seems 'silly' or 'over-the-top' is labelled as 'American'. They feel our Armed Forces have all the technology, yet none of the required training to actually be a better army. They find fault with the fact that 56% of our population is overweight, 60% don't hold passports, know general world affairs or concepts like geography. The exportation of such shows as 'Ricki Lake' or 'Jerry Springer' have also helped make us the butt of their jokes. Some even go so far as to 'hate' or 'dislike' Americans based on our zany foreign policies and global economical greed. In every European country, a McDonalds has been vandalized as a symbol of what 'they see' America stand for.
I think the world will be a safer place, when we (as Americans) own up to what's wrong with us, and prepare our children using the media and education while striving to become better people in order to fix our flaws. We may not be able to change some of our terrible past, but we may be able to make the world aware that we are working to fix our flaws and admit to them.
