Diplomatic Plates

During summer break in college I used to work at a local Volvo dealer. Occasionaly we'd get a european delivery car in from Port Newark complete with the european tags still on the car.

Well, one day we had a new Volvo V70 wagon come in that was a european delivery car and it had red diplomatic plates on it--apparently the husband of the woman who bought the car worked for the Foreign Service for the US State Dept and was then able to get diplomatic plates.

The general manager at the dealership made me take them off and, ahem, add to his collection of other plates he'd collected over the years.

I'm still quasi-friends with the GM and asked if he still had them and if so what he wanted for them--I was willing to pay upwards of about $200 for the pair. He said that being they were diplomatic plates he had to give them back. Ha! Lying bastard. I know this guy and he wouldn't have given them back if Moses himself had asked for them...

I really liked the way the diplomatic plates looked and wondered if anyone knew of where I could get a set of those myself. I realize that they wouldn't be legal, and probably be illegal just to have them...

Anyhoo, if you know where I could get some I'd be greatly appreciative.

RE: Diplomatic Plates

Diplomatic plates belong to the Department of State. Owning them, let alone placing them on a car, is actually a Federal crime. I wouldn't do that kinda sh!t if I were you!! [|)]
