RE: do people still think that man landed on the moon?
Yes, they landed on the moon. Simply put, too many people, in an open society, were involved to cover it up. A free press would have a field day with this type of investigation. Also, soil samples from the moon were given to countries, corporations, and even the U.N. (on display in its lobby).
For those of you who weren't alive at the time, there were disasters then that cost at least three U.S. astronauts their lives. Rent Apollo 13 for another example of a disaster during that time period.
There have always been rumors that the first Soviet space walk was a forgery, but it has never been proven. Soviet astronauts also lost their lives during this period.
When one dwells upon the complexity of the technology needed "just orbiting the earth", it is a marvel that there have been so few disasters. Unfortunately, it is an unforgiving science and if a mistake happens it makes headlines worldwide.
