THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY!
I didn't mean to start this thread to get forum members battling about politics.
Politics and religion - two subjects that's assured to raise blood pressure and furious typing.
First of all, let me say that as a non-partisan citizen, I am actually glad that this arrest has occurred.
It's plain good for the country.
Secondly, I wish everyone could get a little better educated about the various issues and not swing to either left wing or right wing conspiracy theories.
I think left wing or right wing conspiracy theories that describe elaborate background schemes are simply created to sell books or papers - remember if you spread those self serving theories, all you're doing is making the guy who dreamed it up very rich. You are NOT doing anyone any favors. The media especially loves this as it sells more papers, gets more viewers, etc.
Politicians are people. Not some machiavellian genius schemer that has a 100 year plan for the world. There's too much stuff going on in this world for them to react to, and too many people looking over everyone's shoulders to do that. (especially in most democracies where their tenure maxes out at 8 yrs)
They do what they can do within the time frame they have, the information they've been given, and the resources that are available to them.
This is NOT about oil. For all those that keep harping about the US going in to steal Iraqi oil, please just do more research on worldwide oil reserves and oil pricing policies.
For those that cry why Saddam when other dictators are out there, - well he just got the short end of the stick. NO-ONE is saying that those aren't dictatorships we should deal with. But again, politicians make decisions based on info and RESOURCES that are available to them and the US can't go and quash every dictatorship everywhere with current resources.
Secondly, for those that cry about the "mess" we're in Iraq, please let me refresh your memories:
Rebuilding Japan took almost 10 years.
Rebuilding Germany took almost as long.
In the meantime, there were a lot of insurgents and rebels in that process as well too.
In our instant gratification, MTV imbued culture, (please no offence against MTV or Viacom subsidiaries)it seems that if a war and reconstruction takes longer than a year, it's going 'badly'.
