Peace and quiet not an American right

A judge today has ruled against the implementation of the national "do not call" list, infuriating millions of Americans who were seeking a measure of protection from the scourge of telemarketers. I was so looking forward to some peace and quiet in the confines of my own home. What's next -- a ruling that it's unconstitutional to deny termites access to their favorite food source? (Sorry -- I don't mean to offend termites by this comparison).

One has to wonder when 50 million people sign up for this how it is the telemarketers don't get it. What a bunch of morons. At least Congress seems interested in fixing the law so we can stop the phone calls finally.

The telemarketers don't get it because of those 10 people who pick up the phone and actually buy something... that's why I screen my phone calls now!

We have something like Privecy Manager that an unknown number called, it would ask if we would accept the call or not. If we are busy, just let the voicemail take over.

Your absolutely right -- we all pay a price for those who give telemarketers the time of day. Telemarketers are subhuman and should be treated as such. And the ones that employ recorded messages should simply be identified and shot.

Gawd, what an oldie! Found it on the 854th page of OT bullshit. Oh, well. Looks like we DO have the 'do not fuck with us at 10:00 p.m.' list.

I guess it depends on what color the phone is.

I still believe all telemarketers should be shot on sight, and that their bullet-riddled corpses should then be force fed to spammers.

While I no longer get telemarketing calls, now I get these random calls that have no one on the other end, as if an automated service is pinging the number to see if someone answers.

I usually send back a series of tones to see what happens - usually nothing.
