RE: Growing up in the 1970s

Sounds like fun. Did you ever make bows & arrows? We used to make 'crossbows' too - first, nail your cross together(usually invoving bashed thumbs) and then attach a piece of knicker elastic across it. We used old clothes pegs for the arrows.
We were never that advanced. There were a lot of woods near our house, so that's where most of the "dangerous" stuff happened.
One day my brother let me hang out with him and his friends. I was about eight and they were all about four years older than I, so it was a real treat.
We ventured into the woods and before we knew it, we had split into two camps and a mud-ball battle started. Everything was fine until one of my brother's friends pegged me in the head with a rock-filled mud-ball. I still have the scar on my forehead from the stitches.
I still remember watching the Sonny and Cher show in the hospital waiting room while waiting to get sewed up.
