Had a black one go around me while in the wife's ML heading north on the 405 approaching 10.
Amazing to actually see one on the road. Tried to snap a pic from my cell phone as it went by in the left lane.
Unfortunately I got mostly drivers side mirror :(
I thought it looked great in silver from photos, but the black is just amazing.
wish the photo was better but the 405 is a bad place to be doing that sort of thing and by the time the phone would let me snap another it was long gone.

hmmm. that is sure one really nice looking rear view mirror. So is that a W163 M class? I know what you mean. It is hard to take pics on the freeway. I usually take my camera with me a lot now, so whenever i am stuck in traffic, i can snap some pics.

Oddly enough, the wife usually does have the digital in the car. She took my loaner and left me with the ML took the camera to snap pics of a friends new baby.
Honestly, if I'd had any inclination that I might spot an SLR on the road, I might have bought another camera just in case.

yea. But living in SoCal, you should expect that. So Cal is like the capital for rich people and their cars. Especially if you are on the freeway a lot, like me, you might as well take your camera. Sometimes you can be stuck in traffic, and there might be a cool car infront of you. Or their might be a huge accident.
i live in Sacramento, and know the guys at one of our local MB dealerships so they called me the other day to come look at their new stock, tucked in the back was about the sickest thing ever. A gun metal/mercury gray SLR, the car looked like it was wet, all options including $1000 extra option for red brake calipers an of course it had red leather interior. Needless to say as the owner had already plunked down his check...he also took the keys with him, otherwise I was jonesing to sit in the driver seat and look under the hood...just for fun of course... Appparently this was the only grey one to be delivered to the US market and the dealership owner had in fact ordered it for himself, but decided to sell it, no doubt at the prospect of a tidy profit, but my oh my was the thing badass.

nope. that cant be true. i have seen plenty of gun metal gray SLR's. Here is one that I saw at my dealer:
and the color was a dark grey almost charcoal, unlike any color i have seen on any new benz, ive seen something similar on older cars, but not new ones.
If you drive around Knightsbridge in London (near Harrods) you will see handfulls of SLRs - black, silver, grey - it is the playground of MiddleEastern Playboys!!
