I'll start things off. I bought my first MB (1982 300D) in hopes of running it on WVO. I remembered reading an article years ago about a guy running his diesel VW on used cooking oil, it always intriged me. With the help of this and other forums I got the car cleaned up and running fine (on diesel) When I started looking into WVO conversions and filtering / treating the oil, my figuring was that it would take about 4 years of driving on "free fuel" to break even. I liked the original car but soon decieded that I wanted a coupe. I found one (1985 300CD) and have been driving and enjoying it until about a month ago when I bought my SL (1997 SL320). I've been bitten by the Mercedes bug and am fortunate to be at a point in my life where I can afford and have a few toys.
I have no real brand loyalty, but in the case of the new C-Class and ML's I consider them to be best in class overall.

18 years, 4 Benzs, 478,000 collective miles and counting (6,600 on my '08).
The problems I have had are so minimal looking at the big picture (like 196K on the original clutch on my 190E, never replaced any shocks, never replaced an exhaust system...) the value, the comfort and a dealer who respects me and my time give me very little need to change.

I bought my 1976 Mercedes-Benz, 200 series since I was always dreaming of owning a car of this brand. Although it is an old car and belongs to the standard class, it is strong, heavy duty, reliable and lacxirous. Whenever I drive it, many people stops me asking whether she is for sale, and of course, I answer them: NO, IT IS NOT FOR SALE. It is fully upgraded to 1984 model as they are they almost have the same parts.
I wouldn't have chosen an MB, I had heard too many horror stories about MB quality in the last few years, but the wife wanted it. . . Turns-out that so far (25k miles in the year she's owned it) the MB has been the most reliable of the last five vehicles we've had. There have been no problems with it all.

Bought my first and only MB in 02 and never looked back. Got tired of american iron and decided to join the rest of the family. Its a fun car to drive and i don't mind working on it.
I have had 2 Benzes. I bought mine because I like to go fast and be comfortable doing it. I have had many "hot Rods" and sports cars in the past. The comprimise in ride quality and comfort in my previous cars left me yearning for a better machine. I found it in My mercedes Benz E55. Plus, I like using my hood ornament as a bulls-eye or "target sight". That way I can zero in on lesser cars and make them understand the AMG badge on the trunk. Also, I like the way people shake their heads in dismay when they see a long-haired psycho jamming SLAYER in his beloved Benz. Mature couples look at each other like, "why are we in a Taurus and that dirt merchant is in that Mercedes?" Priceless. Happy Holidays, Brian
