I have been enamored with M-B since a friend restored a '58 Ponton back in the mid-70s. I missed out on a great 190SL when I was a poor college student (if I knew then what I know now...), then I latched onto a '66 230 in the early 80's. I haven't needed a personal car for the last 20+ years, but fell in love with the Star again a few years ago when I went to the local VW/Audi dealer to get a part for the wife's Cabrio and was bowled over by a gorgeous '97 E420 - to me, German iron at it's best! Unfortunately the thing developed tiny rust nodules all over; by this time I was rehooked on the marque, so I went "practical" with an '00 E320 4Matic. The car that was gonna be my "forever" car lasted a couple of years, 'til last spring when I got the big coupe bug and traded up to an '04 CL500. In the meantime the wife went through a number of other convertibles, but thought the SLKs were too small - until she sat in one at Benz club get together! We snapped up this ultra low miles '01 a couple of weeks later. The performance & handling of the Benzes we have (& had) is tremendous. The style and creature comforts are outstanding. The sense of safety and solidity are second to none. The looks and sense of pride are also, in my opinion, unmatched. As to value, I think the new car cost is insane, but once someone else ponies up those first few years for depreciation they're right reasonable.

I bought my 1996 E300D MBZ because I liked the way it looked and also the diesel is an ideal car for California driving - long distances at relatively constant speeds.

After considerable research, I also found that Mercedes in general provided the best cost per mile of any car that year (1996).

I got mine for several reasons - the biggest being the huge quality compared to the price tag. I got a C240 Sport which has the really smooth V6 engine, 10 years old for £1800, or the equivalent of about $3500. I could have bought a Ford Mondeo or Focus for that money, maybe 5 or 6 years old, but they'd just not be as good a car.

I was super lucky when i found my car. I had just got into an accedent and totalled my car (not my fault btw) and when it was all said and done i got only 4,400 for it. I was so upset because i bought my previous car from a family member who bought it new so i knew i had a good car old or not. I knew i wasnt going to find anything good for that price. So i was searching for cars one day and i found a MB c280 for sale for 6,000 with 99K miles on it! At first i thought it was probably really messed up or to good to be true.
Despite my thoughts i called the number and talked to a very nice man who said it was his grandfathers car who bought it new.

So i made the trip to ohio to go check it out. When i saw it, it was flawless...interior exterior...eveything was on point. He handed me a carfax report, 1 owner never been wrecked and he had every service record since the car was brand new! I couldnt believe i got such a deal. When i came to pick up the car there was a full tank of gas in it and he even washed it! I was so happy

When my late hubby was younger, a long time before we got together, he had a diesel Mercedes (circa 1975?).
He loved talking about that car.

So, when I was putting too much money into the 2000 Lincoln Continental with 138K miles, I decided to test drive a Mercedes.

Well, two days later I drove away with that 2006 E350. Told the salesman I had to think about it, but I knew as soon as I sat in that car, I had to have it.

It put a whole new light into my life and self-image. It was another step in my moving on with my life.

I have been in love with w126 since I first sat in a black 91 in a dealership in fla, that same year. It has taken up to now to buy one , yesterday to be exact. I could not be more thrilled. I've owned many cars, but I have never, ever driven anything that comes close to my 560 WOW.

Always wanted an SL. Bought a 380SL about 15 years ago and sold it after a few years, but I never got over the solid MB feeling and handling. Six months ago I couldn't stand it anymore and bought a '99 SL 500. It's everything I knew it would be! Perhaps in a few more years the 230 class will be in my future.

well i bought a 83' BMW 320i and 82' 280D for 700 bucks from a former Air Force Colonel. after i bought them i restored them and loved them ever since. i sold my 88' Volvo 240DL for them. i test drove a used 98' S500 and fell in love with it. when i graduated in 04' I told myself i had to have one. Recently while on leave in the states i found my 04' E500, three days later i returned to Japan. Now i will see when i return from my tour in august. i miss it right now.
