I thought I was going to invest do some minor repairs and resell at a higher value, but after driving an open air v12 I've decided to sell my motorcycles...

Camper and truck - sold. Kids too old to hang around the parents. Needed something for R&R crusing time - wife won't ride the back end of a Harley. Enter an old urge for the muscle cars of days gone by. Looked at a few, test drove a few, realized the romantic memories were best left as memories. Enter the '91 500SL. Power, cornering control, comfort, quality, class, and the chance to kick the odd muscle car around - did I mention power? Can't wait to juice this one out a bit more and then maybe move up a few years.

Performance matters!!!!!!

Ive just finished restoring and modifing my 1989 MB 190e 2.3 litter, which now is a 3.2L, and trust me i thought my CLk 500 was fun. i got the car up to 180 mph on the highway last week with the 400HP increase i got on the car, it now has 530hp in a car that weighs like a mazda miata. i still havent got into 7th gear, yes it has a custom 7 speed, so im hoping to get it past 215mph

I bought mine because I love the history and the intensive thought that goes into them mechanically and aesthetically. Plus I feel they are a touch of class in a world now (sadly) dominated by Japanese brands. And most of all, driving one is like no other brand of car I've ever driven.

Post multiple choice - not the best option for MB !!!

results of the survey shows exactly what I do feel:

MB has all what it says: safety, look, prestige, performance (or I should rather write it other way around...)

You folks from Untertuerkheim (D), thanks for your business and please keep it right, so our kids will have the same opportunity that we have!

I bought one because it's a Mercedes-Benz, that's why.

I love every single one I have ever driven or been in. As a young kid I remember my uncle buying an early eighty's turbo diesel, brand new European delivery. He drove it through Germany, Italy and Greece and then shipped it to the US. It was a white, four door sedan turbo diesel and it looked gorgeous, it turned heads even in Europe, I fell in love with the brand then. He finally sold it twenty years later and it still looked good. The love affair continues twenty plus years later. I am on my fourth one and it is just the beginning.

I bought my 1989 190E-2.6 "Brunhilde" for a couple of reasons..........

* Safety is what I voted. I wanted a commuter car that was durable, reliable, very, very safe, and sturdy in a crash situation. I drive a lot for work, and totalled a BMW a few years ago. The wrecker, insurance company, repair shop, and many others commented about the sturdiness and reliability of German cars of this vintage - I would have been seriously injured in anything less.

* (low) Price - Brunhilde was only $2K with 167K on the odometer. I needed something inexpensive, that I could repair and maintain, and have a solid car for several years, serving commuting duty. Even though I've put a few thou$and in repairs, she's a very durable and well running car, at a good price.

Having owned her for about 5 months now, I admit I also enjoy the prestige of a european sedan. I'd rather drive Brunhilde than a 19-year old Toyota, Honda, etc. etc. I like having a "cool" 80's vintage car, and I really enjoy the features, ride quality, and the overall "aura" of the vehicle.
