I was driving a 2002 Audi A4. I just couldn't put up with the electrical and engine malfunctions anymore (I'd consider it a miracle if I went 2 months without taking in for servicing). I needed a new car, and wanted to stay with smaller-sized, higher performance cars (that broke down less) without breaking the bank too much. I test drove Lexus IS 250, MINI CooperS, MB C320 Kompressor. Much like Goldilocks, I found the Lexus too soft, the MINI too hard, and the MB luxurious and really fun. Since MB stopped turning out the C320 Kompressor a few years back, I couldn't find one that matched what I really wanted. I switched gears to the CLK (was determined to buy MB at this point) and found one reasonably priced with low miles. Rest is history.

I picked "Value". Some people sneer at that... but, versus everything else in it's class (as well as some other cars allegedly a class below, like the Maxima), nothing else could touch the quality of materials or the features dollar-for-dollar.

Sure, other things were important. Safety, as this is my wife's daily-driver. Gas mileage, for the same reason. And, Prestige, simply because I hate it when every other car you see is the same make and model (which turned us away from BMW and Infiniti).

The reasons were many. But, when it boiled right down, our money bought the most car from Mercedes.

I have owned a total of 4 now including the latest addition 02 SLK320. Each time before I got rid of the vehicle out of frustration with the local MB dealer. All the previous vehicles were under factory warranty, but the local dealer really doesn't know the meaning of customer service. This time, I bought a vehicle that I would not have to take to the MB dealer for service, and there is an extremely good independent shop here that will keep SLiK running right for many moons. I Have loved Mercedes ever since I was 6 years old and rode in our neighbor's brand new 240D. I used to help wash that car almost every weekend just to spend time with it.

Decision

I picked looks because I had wanted this particular car since February 1985 when I saw the same combination in Anchorage, Alaska on the showroom floor. 380SL cream w/ palimanio interior, signature edition. My husband got this car for me for Christmas 2007. Now that the kids are grown and gone I can enjoy my roadster and believe me I do. Here in Southern Arizona I keep the top off for the majority of the year and only have it up June - August, too hot then, it fries your brain.

My fiancee and I decided that we were going to start looking into SUV's since we would have to buy one someday. After looking online at different vehicles for 3 days (LOL) we bought the 2010 GLK350 4matic. That was 1 week ago and I am loving every inch of the vehicle. All I want now is more power and various other personal touches.

After my father's passing I received two MBs. Returning home, two drivers of course, after completing a 14 hour trip I could NOT understand why anyone would own anything besides a Mercedes.
