Just purchased my first Benz. A 2000 E320. I was looking for a commuter car, but found this one for about 7.5 k. It was similar in cost to a Honda Accord with similar mileage, but the E320 had such a smooth ride and handling! I love this car so far. I know the maintenance will be costly, but I expect to put 200k plus miles on it. It feels so secure and solid.. You can sure tell it's german engineering at work!

As for this threat.. Value, safety, performance and prestige, in that order..

The E320 is a great car...I really like the features and driveability of the 2 I owned. I rather preferred the later one to the 1997 model because of the driver features...controls on the steering wheel are really nice. I really miss those features with this little C-280 but honestly like the smaller size. I used to race Porsches and this almost feels the same but without oversteer...you can toss it around like a real race car...but the E series simply doesn't feel the same.

I choose my MB for a few reasons:

1. I had just sold my previous car(Subaru 2.5RS-T, mulitple show winner, magazine features, the whole bit) I wanted to get a car that couldn't be tinkered with a whole lot. I have a problem with leaving cars alone and the C300 Sport is perfect right off the showroom floor.

2. I have to have AWD or 4x4 where I live, that narrows it down for me on what i can buy and the MB was able to fit that bill.

Pretty much this car was everything I was looking for, a car that has awesome looks without anything needed and it has all the features and comforts you could ever want!

Comfort first!!!

Diesel reliability next.

Ride quality, performance and style last....although with the 208 CLK320 and 215 CL500, style did play a major role in my decision.

The CLK is gorgeous (like my wife), but the CL is strikingly handsome (as she says I am) and has unparalleled comfort.

Prestige was just a byproduct of the aforementioned traits.

Bought a pre owned E320 CDI for Quality and Fuel Economy

Given the prices of new Toyotas and other makes, the E320 CDI in the pre owned market has no equal. It gets the same milage as a Toyota Corolla and is a much higher quality car. I drove this thing from Allentown PA to Canada and was getting 40MPG!! The car is the fastest most powerful car I have ever owned with the best fuel economy. Everybody complains that the service is too expensive for Mercedes cars.
Not with this car!!! I only need an oil change once a year, and with the service plans, I only spend at the most per year $500. My brakes look brand new at 30,000 miles, and I have heard you can get 100,000 if you do not abuse them. The diesel engine in this car is a masterpeice. I can say I bought it for fuel economy, quality, and performance, and I am very happy with mu purchace. In the USA, there is no car that comes close to it!!!
