Because it was such a great car! Let's be fair, would you want a new Dagenham Dustbin or Jap car when you could have a second hand Merc?
I think not!

I bought my E550 for its features. Mercedes builds in a lot of technology that adds to the convenience, comfort and safety. Secondly, I bought it because I wanted a German sedan and didn't want a BMW or another Audi. The SL320 was bought for my partner who wanted it just because he liked its looks and cache.

Bottom line, I need a reliable car that performs. Ultimately I bought the car for prestige and marketing.

I am a lawyer and it image is important! The car will actually help me get new clients.

My wife uses a MB for that business purpose too, except the reliability part is suspect.

I had a Sebring that was starting to fall apart and just about out of warranty. I traded that car and bought a Jaguar X-Type that spent more time at the Jaguar dealership than in my garage. On Mother's Day last year, the straw broke the camels back when the transmission went out as I was taking my wife and son out for breakfast. I'd been looking at the E500 but didn't want to spend the money. After the issues with the other vehicles where I would have ended up spending it on repairs and maintenance anyway, I took the dive and haven't felt bad about it yet! The only downfall for me is that I like to do my own work on cars and I've been told that resell value will take a hit if service is not done at the dealership. Since I don't plan on letting the car go until its worthless (never) anyway, that's not a big deal but still on my mind.

I LIKE THE BODY STYLE AND ITS MY FIRST MBZ EVER,SO THIS IS WHY I PURCHASED THIS 71 MBZ. AS ITS A GOOD SMELLING DIESEL CAR.IT REMINDS ME OF A LIMOSINE AND EVERYTIME I'M OUTSIDE I SIT IN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND PRETEND TO WAVE AT MY FRIENDS AND NIEGHBORS. I LOVE MY VERY OWN MBZ.

I've always driven Vauxhalls and Fords and needed a new motor.
After looking around I couldn't find anything that even came close to my A150.

I needed something to fit my dog into, Something that was economical & safe.
I really wanted the the 2ltr turbo but I don't think that fits in the Economical band.
I did a bit of reading and heard the 170 wasn't that much different & didn't do enough miles for a Diesel.
