I purchased a new C Class in 1996 and it was the best car I ever owned. I had it for six years and all it required was normal maintenance. The fellow I sold it to in 2002 kept it another five years and then sold it to his sister. She is now driving it.
I purchased a new 2002 CLK 320 Convertible in 2002 which is a different story. While the car is fun to drive, MB should be ashamed of themselves on the mechanical quality of the car - especially the front end. I have had to have the front end of the car rebuilt twice since new (the car has 60,000 miles on it). Add to that new motor mounts, new shocks all around, new springs all around, rebuilding the suspension components in the rear of the car, new heater motor, all new HVAC sensors, and a new transmission shield. All of this was fixed under an extended MB warranty I purchased. I love the car but am having serious doubts about whether I should purchase a new CLK convertible. John from Toronto
Wow, certainly can understand why people buy extended warranties on these Mercedes cars.

I bought my first one to learn about diesel engines. Worked on plenty of gas cars, but never a diesel. I just sold #7, so I'm on the prowl for #8. Love the 123's first, and then the 126's.
I needed a car, and i went around and looked at different car, and when I saw my vivianite green facelifted w202 and drove it I knew I had to buy it, and I'm still in love with it Only thing I miss is some power, because i have the c180. But who knows, maybe I'll get a c36
ok so i bought my MB last year when i was 16 from a buddy of mine who sold it to me for $100, ever since ive owned this car is been like a dream come true it gets great gas millage 40+ ride is unbelievably comfortable and it could stop on a dime! before owning this car i only wanted American cars (still love American cars) but know i look a German cars as a whole different type of car and driving is a whole new experience!

Wow, what was wrong with it that it was only worth $100?

to be honest nothing at all, my friends dad didn't want his son driving it because of the slow acceleration so they had it sitting in there yard for a year and they were starting to get tired of it so i told them i would take it off there hands for $100, they were so happy to get rid of it. so basically the vacuum shutoff was dry rotted and the rear driver side window wouldn't go down but this all when wrong after i bought the car. but its all fixed now and she runs like new!
I bought my first Benz for a number of reasons..but also a 6-cylinder engine, classic looks, over 25 years old, very low KMs and in great condition. The others followed as a natural progrssion. After one Benz it's hard to beat it with another brand. BTW, I still have my first and she's as gorgeous as ever!
bought mine 2 years ago when i saw an ad in the paper for a mercedes for $3000. i went out of curiousity, and the instant i drove it felt different than any other car i had ever driven.
i new nothing of them other than they were for rich people - and at that time, i wasnt. so after the elderly gentleman who was the original owner said "son, this car will take you anywhere you want to go without a hiccup" i bought.
never been happier. she frustrates me with gremlins now and then - as any 18 year old car will, but for 18 years old, she drives like she is 3 years old.
i will never own another car except mercedes from here on out.
