Hello
If you calculate the cost of the door repair and spread it over 35 years, I think it comes down to a couple of dimes a day. After 35 years I would as well have problems with my organs! That's a lifetime.
Very funny!
All the best

Thumbs up Because They're SAFE !

I was working on my Brother's 1981 300SD (W-126 S Klasse) and the idiot neighbor backed rapidly out of his driveway and across the street bashing into it ~ pic attached : Why did you buy your Mercedes?-img_0886-1-.jpg

You can clearly see the tubular reinforcement .

The car wa shoved over a foot or two , I wasn't hurt but it startled me a lot .

It really pains me too see an MB with a dent.
That guy must have been rolling. I hope you received restitution from that driver!

Post Collision Damage

The bad part ? down here the Junk Yards are LOADED with pristine W-126's , no one wants to feed the Gasoline ones so they're getting scrapped in droves .

The other driver was scared and gave us his info , I hope he has insurance .

I'm already crippled because of a wild gypsy cab running me over , this was a serious fright .

I'd say it was definite for the value and hey the looks are an added bonus. The 70's & 80's Diesels that will push 300,000-500k maybe even more are definitely worth the price. Especially now you can get a good used one for under $5k It's a value for the looks, comfort, and longevity.

I definitely agree that any Mercedes keeps it's appeal. The old cars are sought after. The new models are revered. I was at the Mercedes dealer up here in the Laurentians today and I was checking out the new 300 CLA. Black with all the sport and luxury options. Chrome galore and a very solid feel. I wonder if the new 60th anniversary CLA will one day earn the respect as all previous models Mercedes have. There is quite a change to the cabin feel. I don't want to get ahead of myself but I think I am starting to get an itch!
By the way just for shit and gigles, my Merc dealer today stated that it costs $1066.00 to have the alternator changed??!
I was flabergasted! Plus labor at 119.00 per hr!! Can anyone inform me if this is what it costs or are my ears playing a trick on me?
Thanks to all and keep MERKING!

Well ;

The simple fact is : the cachet of " MERCEDES " allows them to put the screws to you pretty hard .

I find older Mercedes to be extremely economical to operate and repair .

Had a 1964 Mercedes 230SL pagoda while living in GB in the 1960s to mid-70s, and loved every moment of it. Cream body with dark brown pagoda and soft tops; dark brown leather interior. It was the first
one imported to England.

Now later in life, wanted the pagoda experience again, and began searching. A top vehicle is running over $100,000, with good provenance and authentic.
Ran across info and praise for the e320 cabriolet, and fell in love with it, so began a 2 year search for just the right one.

Over last weekend, located a two owner e320 in smoke silver metallic with cream leather interior.
Complete service history from bill of sale for factory delivery in Germany, through death of first owner,
sale by estate to second owner, and full service history by 2nd owner, detailed also on spread sheet.
Totally thrilled by such documentation and mint condition of this vehicle, with 80,000 miles; always garaged, never smoked in or containing children or pets as passengers.

These are rare cars, also, having only been manufactured for two years, with few exported to the USA.
This one was toured around Europe from factory delivery, then shipped home to Texas, via the first owner.

My goal is to maintain it to highest standard, enjoy driving moderate miles, and hold as a real life joy along with potential for increasing value over time.
The e320 cabriolet is a magnificent vehicle, which I shall enjoy pampering while now also savouring retirement.

I bought my 1st Benz in 2011 a 2012 C250 for my wife. I really liked it especially the handling. We where going to upgrade to a E class, However we got the 2015 C300 instead. WOW what a car this is. It absolutely smokes the old C class in looks handling and it is so smooth and quiet. The interior set up is so alluring we liked it better then the E Class, not to mention, its exterior is a head turner!!!!!
