Mercedes-Benz’s in house tuning outfit AMG took the sheet off of its latest creation today, the SLS AMG Black Series.
Under the hood lives the same 6.3-liter V8 that powers the regular SLS, which in this case makes 622 hp and 468 lb-ft or torque. That’s a jump of about 40 hp and a loss of about 10 lb-ft of torque, though it is still the most powerful combustion engine car in AMG’s lineup. The power is delivered through a DCT seven-speed automatic transmission.
The Black Series treatment also means the car loses about 150 lbs., thanks in part to the extensive use of carbon fiber in some chassis parts, and even in the interior. A titanium exhaust system as well as a new lithium-ion starter battery also contribute to the SLS’s diet. When it all comes together, the SLS AMG Black Series will make the sprint to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds.
When will it be reviewed, tested, shown, on TopGear? Need to see it go, driven, used and abused as well as how it sounds...
I hope TopGear get hold of it at some point - JC is a big fan of the SLS like me and he also keen on the AMG Black Series. Has to to happen - I would like to know if any UK dealers will have one to see?
Where do I buy that black moulding behind the Euro (German?) front license plate????
I desperately need one for my AMG 300 SLS. I have the Euro plate with my licence number together with the Euro clip-in plastic backing but need the moulding to attach it to the bumper. US style plates looks ugly!!
Someone Please HELP me.
