Mercedes CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake Revealed With 557-HP

Quote:
Just after releasing official details of the CLS Shooting Brake, Mercedes-Benz has announced the new high-performance AMG version as well as an even more potent “Edition 1″ model.

Powered by the brand’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, the CLS63 AMG makes 525 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque with a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds. A special “Edition 1″ model will get an up-rated output of 557 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, helping cut a tenth off the car’s 0-60 time.

Paired with the brand’s 7-speed automatic transmission the car has three settings sport (S), manual (M) and controlled efficiency (C), the latter engaging a start-stop system as well as a setting that keeps the transmission in a higher gear. Also included in the auto-box is a rev-matching feature and a launch control function.

Being an AMG model the CLS63 Shooting Brake gets an AMG Ride Control suspension system and custom steering with Comfort, Sport and Sport plus modes.

Additional performance enhancements include 19-inch wheels, larger brakes and the option of carbon ceramic discs while the outside of the car gets the usual AMG upgrades. Those looking for more can opt for items from the Performance Studio include a locking rear differential and a carbon fiber aero package.

In addition to all this performance and the car’s good looks, it is a wagon after all and allows for a total of 54.7 cu-ft of storage space with the rear seats folded flat.

Look for the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake to bow at the Paris Motor Show this fall.
