The latest news on this incident. The car was not at fault, which indicates that it was most likey a driver error.

It may not be a matter of gender, but one of dedication.

Danica Patrick used to have that dedication. At age 16 she moved to Milton Keynes, England in order to advance her racing career, racing in British national series events against drivers including future Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button. During a three year period she raced in Formula Ford, Formula Vauxhall and earned a second-place in Britain's Formula Ford Festival, the highest finish by an American in the event.
Physical strenght? Danica could probaly kick Nick Heidfeld's butt.

Michael Andretti didn't have Dad's Mario's singleminded determination, and didn't want to live in Europe.
I have seen Mario race in F 1, and he was a hell of a racer with some big balls.

I agree, the skills and the perfomance of a driver are depending strongly on the drivers dedication to his profession.
I actually believe that a couple of female drivers would spice things up a little
