Wow...Hammi gets hammered.

The Circuit de Catalunya has been rocked on Saturday evening, to the delight of many Spanish Formula 1 fans, as Lewis Hamilton was thrown out of pole position. The McLaren driver, who was not carrying enough fuel for a sample at the end of qualifying, will now sensationally start tomorrow’s race from the back of the field.

The FIA stewards’ full investigation report reads as follows:

From The FIA Stewards of the Meeting
To All Teams, All Officials
Document 36
Date 12 May 2012

‘The Stewards received a report from the Race Director which stated that during post-qualifying scrutineering a sample of fuel was required from car 4, however, the car failed to return to the pits under its own power as required under Article 6.6.2 of the FIA Formula One Technical Regulations.

The Stewards heard from the team representative Mr Sam Michael who stated that the car stopped on the circuit for reasons of force majeure. A team member had put an insufficient quantity of fuel into the car thereby resulting in the car having to be stopped on the circuit in order to be able to provide the required amount for sampling purposes.

As the amount of fuel put into the car is under the complete control of the Competitor the Stewards cannot accept this as a case of force majeure.

The Stewards determine that this is a breach of Article 6.6.2 of the FIA Formula One Technical Regulations and the Competitor is accordingly excluded from the results of the Qualifying Session. The Competitor is however allowed to start the race from the back of the grid.’

I love Formula One racing. I am happy to see no one has been dominating the races this year like Vettel did last season

I am in California and Catalunya Grand Prix starts at 10:30 PST in the US. I will be staying up to watch it tonight.

I also have F1 2010 for the XBOX 360 console here with the driving wheel and and foot peddles. My fav game by far to play online against other players. The graphics and overall game play is very life-like. One mistake and you are toast !! lol

Button has been very fast in practice in Spain, so it will definitely be a very close race tonight.

10.30 PST last night? I watched it live this morning at 6 am Mountain Standard Time - which should have been 5 am in California???
But it was an excellent race. Nice to see Williams and Ferrari at the front.
