Schumi deserves a big penalty! Also, what is Ross Brawn doing? He needs to start whooping some butt, I like fast pit stops but not at the expense of losing a wheel and almost killing people in the pit lane!
While it was an eventful race, I didn't feel all that engaged until that moment--I actually fell asleep at lap 9. I had to re-watch this afternoon, that overtake was truly something else. You could
say it was dangerous, but that
is what I miss from f1. I'm just upset that it was MSC who had to do it, if a Rookie would have done it that would have made me an instant fan; when was the last time we had something like that, 2008 at Spa with Kimi and Hamilton? On the edge racing and overtaking with nothing but talent, balls and speed keeping you from wrecking, unfortunately Kimi met the wall.
That is what F1 is supposed to be, difficult racing with risk taking overtakes; I scoff at the idea that they need to alter the aero even further to create overtaking--like that ever worked. If you want a position: earn it. Otherwise get out of F1.
I was cheering for Rubens, who I don't particularly like, since his first attempt at lap 63 or 64 to remind MSC what he has become in F1 since he left. Good on you, Rubens! I disagree with the penalty, but the way he's been starting he could add a bit of spice to the mid-field, lets see if the old dog still has what it takes to take Eau Rouge like in 2002.
Merc seem to me like they're going to pull a BMW more and more with every passing GP. Too bad for Nico, he could deliver if Merc just focused and built the chassis and aero design to suit him. But I just don't think they're in it for the long haul; it all smells like a PR
stunt, a costly and detrimental one at that.
Hell, I think its far more likely that Toyota or Honda come back with Kobayashi as their star driver then Merc staying and fighting for a WDC/WCC.
Kobayashi was on it this race, from the back to the points! Too bad he didn't get much tv coverage, but still Koba could be what bring Japan's reputation in F1 off the ground. Maybe WDC material in a few years time when Hulk, Jaime are at the top of their games. Toyota made a huge mistake with their driver line up, but I've always said Sauber-Toyota
has a nice ring to it. Cologne is still vacant and semi-operational with engineers ready to go to HRT. His attitude is super cool, too. Old school 70's racer mentality.
This says it all:
And that lead into the winners lounge was one of the most stunning things I've seen in a while. I've always like Hungarian girls, hence my earlier post, this only confirmed why. Wow!
