Opinions

After the first race of this year many stated that it was boring and processional!

So, after these first few races, what are our opinions now?

Personally I think that now things have settled down (Re. new no refuelling etc.), the races are still quite exiting. We've seen more overtaking and classy manoeuvres than from the same races of 2009.

One of my Jerez contacts has invited me to the pre-race drama in Barca on Thursday, so I'm sure to win the prediction prize next week with what I glean from the various race teams

I think the weather has played an important role but nevertheless the last few races have been fun!

Likewise, I'm back in the game. It's been fun seeing Jenson beat Lewis and Nico outscore his team mate. Anxious to see the rest of the season. I predict Hammi will put on quite a show, and going out on a limb...schumi will roar again. Also, watch out for Kubica. I'm back on board!

Yes, my opinion has changed as well. Without testing and new rules the teams did not know what to expect and had to take it easy at Bahrain, which made for a seriously boring and expensive parade.

Here's another take:

(GMM) After the processional season opener in Bahrain, assessments about the success or failure of F1's new format have taken a back seat to the weather.

Rain either shook up the grid order or spiced up the grands prix in Australia, Malaysia and China, meaning that the question of whether the rules should be adjusted has been muted by arguably artificially-exiting races.

And the wait for clarity about the success of the 2010 formula, including the new ban on in-race refueling, could now be extended into yet another race.

It is currently cold and wet in Barcelona, where about a half-hour north in the suburb of Montmelo round five of the world championship will be staged at the Circuit de Catalunya later this week.

The weather forecast for the city is for intermittently light and heavy rain showers throughout the week, with regular precipitation likely to remain a possibility until at least late on Sunday night when the skies could clear.

Presently, the forecast for Saturday - the day of qualifying - is for a cloudy day with a small chance of rain, while light rain in the morning is expected on race-day Sunday.

Well the season has been a bit unusual to say the least. Its been interesting only for the fact that weather and mechanical failures have pretty much been the norm.
We have recently (read: last few years) seen the damage first hand on what that Nazi porn star and Bernie have reduced F1 to. The bad news is there is more of that on the horizon. As good as Schumacher is/was he has basically admitted that he cannot come to grips with the current F1 car. Hopefully he'll have an awakening and be able to salvage the season with a win or 2 but that remains to be seen.
I'm still not too impressed with Button and Hammi. I say put Nico or Vettel in the mighty McLaren and see what happens.
Let's get back to real F1 racing when there were V-10s and 12s and all that goes with the pinnacle of motorsports.

Well, I was at Jerez to watch the Moto GP with that exciting Lorenzo, Pedrosa last lap battle last Sunday, so I'm hoping for an all Spanish Alonso, Alguersuari 1-2 this coming Sunday

All being well I'm heading off to Barca on Friday afternoon, so if anyone spots an obsidian black SL500 flashing past, it'll be me.
I've got some very good contacts who have again managed to get me a pass to the garages. No camera allowed though, and only mobile phone without camera, so no photos trying to schmooze up to the teams and drivers.

Anyone else going???
