Belgian Grand Prix

If you can only watch 5 minutes of this race from your Tivo, watch the first minute and then the last 4 minutes. It started raining at the end of the race and then massive chaos broke out. Lewis Hamilton won after quite an ending battle with Kimi. Now Ferrari are protesting, so there could be a change in the order.

Ferrari are insane. Räikkönen did some very strange driving and not only took himself out but had 2 stabs at running Hamilton off the road, not to mention hitting him in the back at the apex of a corner. Then almost took out the Williams as it went back onto the track.

The only protest they can lodge is against Williams for recklessly entering the track even though there was plenty of safety track adjacent to the racing line. Nakajima really had a strong influence on the outcome of the race if for no other reason than he forced Hamilton off the road and blocked Kimi. The resulting road-rage was the climax of the race.

Modz ... enjoy the difference. www.benzmodz.com

That williams made a very dangerous move.
Those other 2 'hits' look like normal race incidents to me.
The FIA is ferrari minded so I wouldn't be supprised if Hamilton get's a penalty for next race or something.

Either way Hamilton kicks ass, I hope he wins the championship.

Hamilton given 25 sec penalty and demoted to 3rd place.

Massa "wins".

Formula 1 loses. The fans lose, sport loses.

Of all the ferrari-friendly bent decisions we've seen over the years, this takes the biscuit. it's atrocious, and that bad evan a lot of ferrari fans are appalled.

I've watched F1 since I was about 12, so about 18 years, I don't know if I'm going to bother with it again.

It's really about time for that breakaway series.

This is another poor decision by the stewards. Both drivers involved are giving it their all,
Raikkonen gets very defensive going into the chicane and clearly squeezes Hamilton.

If in taking the escape road Hamilton gains an advantage it's that his car is intact as otherwise he would have undoubtedly hit Raikkonen. Was Kimi's action legitimate? I thought it close as he appeared to move over on Hamilton twice but this is GP racing and Kimi was under enormous pressure to deliver.

Hamilton slows down and lets Raikkonen go by. These are the rules and they were observed. Hamilton then quickly outsmarts Kimi who going defensive again takes the outside line only for Lewis to nip inside and take Kimi. In his desire to retain his position Kimi clips Hamilton but Lewis gets through.

Breathtaking racing. The leadership changes hands again within moments when Rosberg mounts a mobile chicane and Hamilton is forced wide. Kimi retakes the lead only to spin it away again and moments later to throw away his championship challenge.

This was a great race and the stewards are stuffing up.

Just my two-penneth.

PS.

Think it is interesting that there was no protest after the race from Ferrari. Mclaren look set to appeal.

McLaren files intention to appeal
autosport.com - F1 News: McLaren: No choice but to appeal

The penalty is in gray area. Hamilton did let Kimi through, but didn't really get too far behind Kimi after giving back the position.

The only reason the penalty was applied is to keep Massa in play for WDC. So they had grasp to something. If Massa would've hit the barrier too - they would've declared the race over retroactive to the point when Kimi was leading.

Why didn't they put Heiki on Intermediates ? He was out of points and it would've been a good gamble.

This outcome made me sick to my stomach.... a travesty. Worse than NASCAR, F1 has entered the relm of WWF.

Per RD - In Chalie's opinion - LH complied with sporting regs.

F1 : McLaren confident Spa result will stand - MCLAREN - F1-Live.com

"Dennis revealed that the team checked with Whiting after the move whether Hamilton had conformed to the regulations.

"Of course Charlie can only give an opinion because he is not the stewards, but he gave the opinion that we had probably complied. Charlie is of course a very important opinion to have," he added."
